The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

Job Description

The Director, Regions supports the overall region's operational strategy and oversight for the university to become the premier university among students, states, communities, and employers in delivering high-quality education and graduates that meet workforce needs. The Director may stand in as the internal and external executive for one or more states in the region and assist with oversight of all state operations and P&L in addition to directing the day-to-day and long-term regional goals and objectives.The Director will work in person in our new Washington, D.C. offices.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and grow brand awareness and enrollment and advance the university's reputation for excellence in the region by representing the university as an accessible, affordable, high-quality workforce-related institution of higher education to community business, educational, and government leaders.

  • Assist the Regional VP in the development of a local, regional strategy that is aligned with goals by the schools, Academy, and Craft Education. Recruit and develop high-performing talent and individuals. Manage direct reports and other employees through coaching, training, and motivation to achieve results.

  • Serve as the liaison between the region and strategic partnerships vertical teams.

  • Deliver presentations and attend meetings, conferences, and other events as directed by the Regional VP.

  • Collaborate with other leaders and departments to resolve state issues as they arise.

  • Manage the day-to-day administration of the region.

  • Influence the achievement of the university's keyresults by developing relationships that drive value for employers, students, and alumni.

  • Project executive presence and deliver presentations as a thought leader in higher education.

  • Develop and manage all aspects of P&L.

  • Manage and support facilities as requested.

  • Prepare and analyze reports, compile monthlyand quartly business reports.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and achieve cross-functional strategic plans, key objectives, and measurable KPIs, including managing regional goals and objectives.

  • Mix of higher education, B2B, and B2C experience.

  • Experience operating in a disaggregated marketing model; able to make decisions and drive business forward in a highly complex, multi-faceted organization.

  • Success working across marketing and communications disciplines, including brand development, creative, paid media, social media, interactive products, email, field marketing, PR, and analytics.

  • Comfort working as part of a hybrid in-person/remote team.

  • Proven collaborator with a track record of executing complex projects involving cross-functional teams.

  • Methodical, systematic, and highly organized

  • Excellent written and verbal communicator capable of building strong relationships across contributors and teams, including C-level executives.

  • Ability to organize information and effectively present issues, recommendations, and conclusions.

  • Innovative and inclined to explore new approaches via constant learning and optimization.

  • Strong critical thinker capable of making smart judgments under pressure.

  • Ability to manage time and resources for multiple projects at one time.

  • Ability to develop new ideas that will enhance Region success and align with and enable the transformation of the university into its next phase of impact and scale.

  • Communication skills, oral and written, in addressing internal and external audiences; delivers on commitments.

  • Ability to negotiate and influence skillfully and professionally in tough situations with both internal and external groups while maintaining relationships.

  • Focused on results, not just activity. Exceptional skill and demonstrated success in delivering and improving quality and results in a senior leadership role.

  • Ability to review and analyze information for a deep understanding of operating performance, performance to goals, cost analysis, etc.

  • Ability to always keep the student at the center of what we do, and why we do it. Makes decisions and guides efforts to improve and expand value for students and employers.

Job Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Business or related field.

  • 10 years of related experience, which includes a minimum of 5 or more years leading a team.

  • 7 or more years of business development experience.

  • 7 or more years of executive experience in roles of progressive responsibility.

  • Proven track record of operational success in a business or education entity and increased year over year growth.

  • Strong enterprise, community, and government networks and partnerships are required.

Experience in lieu of education

Equivalent relevant experience performing the essential functions of this job may substitute for education degree requirements. Generally, equivalent relevant experience is defined as 1 year of experience for 1 year of education and is the discretion of the hiring manager.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

  • Travel at least 30%

Position & Application Details
