U.S. Facilities, Inc., a consolidated facility management/infrastructure service organization, seeks a Part-Time Toll Collector at the Tacony-Palmyra and Burlington Bristol Bridges, located in Burlington County NJ. This is not a position with the Burlington County Bridge Commission. Do not contact the Burlington County Bridge Commission about this listing.


The Toll Collector collects tolls at the Bridge entrance and is responsible for commission funds and accountability for such funds. This position is a part-time opportunity with the possibility of becoming a full-time position for the right candidate. The candidate will be trained as a toll collector. After a period of time, the candidate will then be required to complete Bridge Operator Training as a condition of employment.


The part-time toll collector position exists to fill vacancies in our full-time work schedule. Vacancies occur within our schedule due to scheduled days off, vacations, and illness. Part-time collectors work as needed but typically work 20 to 28 hours weekly.


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Collect tolls and is accountable for correct financial transactions.
  • Makes change and issues receipts to motorists.
  • Separates coins and bills into proper denominations for deposit.
  • Maintains neatness in attire and maintenance of items issued.
  • Process credit card and EZPASS transactions.
  • Promotes good job relationships and extends courtesy to BCBC patrons under all circumstances.
  • Answers questions and gives directions to motorists in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.


Secondary Responsibilities:



  • Oversee working bridge machinery to facilitate efficient, orderly, and safe maritime navigation of crowded inland ship passages and the traveling public's safety.
  • Typical tasks carried out by bridge operators include controlling road traffic warning signals, raising, and lowering bridges to allow waterway passage, and communicating with ship traffic.
  • Operate the machinery and coordinate safe passage.
  • Part of your bridge operator's role is maintaining and inspecting the equipment regularly. This critical task ensures the machinery is always in safe working condition, thereby preventing potential accidents and ensuring the smooth operation of the bridge.
  • Prepare an incident report if an accident occurs.



Availability:



-Must be available to work up to 28 hours per week, nights, weekends, and holidays.


-Must be available both weekend days.


-Toll Collector Training consists of 4 consecutive, 8-hour shifts.


-Must be available for all shifts, 6:00AM-2:00PM, 2:00PM-10:00PM, 10:00PM-6:00AM and 4:00PM-8:00PM



Education and/or Experience



  • Applicant must be a New Jersey resident.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid New Jersey Driver's License - Reliable Transportation
  • Strong customer service always expected.
  • Cash handling experience is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to handle challenging, and at times, emotionally charged situations.
  • Ability to speak, read, and comprehend the English language.
  • Problem solving abilities.
  • Willingness to work in the elements heat, wind, snow, rain, etc.
