Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Flooring Technician to join our Facilities team in a hospital environment. The Flooring Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of various types of flooring throughout the healthcare facility, ensuring all flooring surfaces are safe, sanitary, and compliant with healthcare standards. This role plays a critical part in maintaining a clean and functional environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Key Responsibilities: * Install, repair, and maintain resilient flooring such as vinyl composition tile (VCT), sheet vinyl, rubber flooring, linoleum, epoxy coatings, and carpet in patient rooms, corridors, labs, and clinical areas * Ensure flooring work complies with healthcare facility standards, infection control protocols, and safety regulations (e.g., slip resistance, seamless transitions) * Perform flooring inspections and preventative maintenance to reduce hazards and prolong floor life * Prepare floors by cleaning, leveling, or removing old materials in compliance with health codes * Safely use tools and materials specific to healthcare-approved flooring products * Coordinate flooring work to minimize disruption to patient care and hospital operations * Respond promptly to flooring repair requests, especially in critical care or high-traffic areas * Maintain accurate records of materials, maintenance logs, and work orders using facility management software * Work collaboratively with environmental services, nursing staff, and infection control teams * Participate in safety and compliance training, including proper handling of adhesives and cleaning agents Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or technical certification in flooring preferred * Minimum 2 years of experience in flooring installation or maintenance, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting * Knowledge of healthcare flooring materials and infection prevention considerations (e.g., cove base, flash coving, heat welding seams) * Understanding of ADA compliance, Joint Commission standards, and hospital safety protocols * Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and finishing quality * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor in varying conditions * Excellent communication and time management skills * Must pass background check, drug screening, and health clearance requirements for hospital employment Preferred Qualifications: * Experience working in a hospital, clinic, or healthcare facility * Certification from a professional flooring organization (e.g., CFI, INSTALL, NWFA) * Knowledge of infection control regulations (CDC, OSHA, Joint Commission) Apply to Crothall today!
