In this role, you will be responsible in utilizing GIS/AutoCAD or similar systems in the facilitation of preparing permit submittals. The ideal candidate will have:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Vocational/Technical Certificate Coursework required and should include:
  • Mechanical & Architectural Drafting (AutoCad 1 and 2)
  • Industrial Drafting & Design/Piping & Mechanical Design
  • Academic, Drafting & Design
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience CAD designing/drafting role
  • Utility or construction permitting experience (preferred)
  • Special Training required to be completed within one (1) year of hire, to include:
  • MOT Certified Courses
  • Defensive Driving
  • Autodesk Vault (Drawing data base)
  • ArcMap
  • Safety

Salary Range: $24.29 - $30.36 hourly ($50,500.00 - $63,150.00 annually) - commensurate with experience

Job Purpose:

Prepares and tracks permit submittals throughout the entire lifecycle of the permitting process for electric and water projects through various governing authorities. Utilizes GIS/AutoCAD or similar systems in the facilitation of preparing permit submittals.

Primary Functions:
  • Prepare accurate and comprehensive permit packages tailored to each project using AutoCAD or similar programs ensuring compliance with applicable regulations;
  • Monitor status and track permits through the permitting process, including applications acceptance; plan review; inspections; permit closure, and notification of internal and external stakeholders of updates;
  • Communicate with local governing authorities to obtain the necessary civil engineering plans to complete permit submittals. Includes but not limited to City of Orlando, Orange County, City of St. Cloud, Osceola County, Florida Department of Transportation, South Florida Water Management and Central Florida Expressway;
  • Assist with notifying the appropriate governing authority regarding proposed emergency work;
  • Respond to comments from governing agencies related to permit submittals and make necessary changes to obtain permit;
  • Create, maintain and update electrical and water drawings to obtain the necessary permits from various governing authorities;
  • Create, review and edit detailed drawings, plans and maps using AutoCAD or similar programs
  • Record and manage essential documents such as files, letters, manuals, field inspection reports, permit
  • files, blueprints, drawings, and other data or materials to facilitate project progress;
  • Export, archive and import drawing files from the Electric Water Delivery department;
  • Conduct field investigations to locate and verify various structures within the OUC facilities;
  • Coordinate the exchange of data with internal and external customers;
  • Provide exceptional customer service when answering questions of peers, OUC staff and field
  • personnel, supervisory staff, and external stakeholders;
  • Assist with creating CAD drawings for engineering personnel;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Technical Requirements:
  • Working knowledge of, but not limited to the following:
    • Civil Engineering Drawings for ;
    • Diagrams for Electrical and Water facilities;
    • Drawing Standards, Documentation and Safety Procedures;
    • Electric circuits and other forms of electrical maps concerning OUC infrastructure;
    • Software Applications (i.e. AutoCad, Autodesk Vault (drawing Database), Footprints, ePets, Adobe, Google Maps);
  • Familiarity with all, but not limited to the following:
    • Permitting process and documents;
    • Building and construction plans;
    • Related industry, organizational and departmental policies, practices and procedures; legal guidelines, ordinances and laws;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to positively interact with other staff members, the general public, contractors, governmental entities, and other stakeholders;
  • Strong organizational and computer skills, with the ability to manage workflows and multitask;
  • Ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; compute rates, ratios and percentages;
  • Ability use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.) and use standard office equipment (computer, telephone, copier, etc.).

Working Conditions:

This job is mostly performed in an office work environment without disagreeable conditions.

Physical Requirements:

This job requires constant detailed inspection/reading/English. This job may require constant speaking and hearing.
