We are seeking a System Safety Engineer/Analyst to join our diverse and dynamic team. Your overarching role will be to ensure adherence to applicable safety policies and standards. You will use your experience and expertise to establish design criteria and requirements as well as to lead independent safety analyses, studies, and design evaluations of systems and software including:

  • Conducting safety assessments and hazards analyses of hardware and software that entails missiles, rockets, launchers and related combat equipment.
  • Prepare and/or update Safety Assessment Reports, Hazards Analyses, and System Safety Risk Assessments.
  • Prepare and/or review System Safety Management Plans (SSMPs) and System Safety Program Plans (SSPPs) and related safety documentation.
  • Conduct and/or review system safety assessments of new, updated, and/or modified system hardware, including change, waiver and exemption requests.
  • Assess design and system test documentation for incorporation of system safety related requirements and assess test data to verify system safety requirements.
  • Perform technical System Safety Reviews and develop required documentation for Government acceptance.
  • Meet/coordinate with Government and contractor engineer, technical and test agency personnel, and Safety Office representatives to review safety related documentation, test reports, test data
  • Review incident data and assess/coordinate safety implications and risk levels to users.
  • Review contractor documentation for safety implications and support the development of inputs to Statements of Work and specification from a Safety perspective

Required

  • BS or BA degree
  • Minimum of years of relevant System Safety experience
  • Working knowledge of safety principles, regulations, and practices including experience carrying out hazard control techniques as well as conducting risk analysis
  • Detailed working knowledge of MIL-STD-882E, MIL-HDBK-516, DO-178, DO-278, JSSEH, AMCOM Regulation 385-17, SAE ARP 4761, or similar safety standards
  • Experience with Level of Rigor (LOR) Analysis
  • Some travel
  • Must have an in-scope DoD Secret security clearance

Desired

  • Knowledge of Air and Missile Defense System
  • Knowledge of Aircraft Navigation Data
  • Familiar with the Plan for Software Aspects for Approval (PSAA)
  • Familiar with the Software Accomplishments Summary (SAS)
  • Knowledge of static and dynamic code analysis
  • Experience with Model Based Software Development
  • Familiarity with MATLAB and Simulink, Rhapsody, DOORS, etc
