Reporting to the Director of Engineering the following job description outlines the essential functions of the Controls Engineer for the Hartselle, AL Wood Reels plant. The following lists are not exhaustive, and the engineer is expected to assume any and all duties assigned irrespective of whether such duties are specifically included in the following. What you'll be doing:
- Identify and Implement solutions quickly to increase the overall Safety of the Plant Facility and Personnel.
- Modify or develop new controls systems for existing equipment to increase safety of machine/operator interaction.
- Consistent plant floor presence and regular interaction with the entire team.
- Develop and maintain required documentation to support controls applications used in the manufacturing process, including operation and maintenance.
- Oversee or assist in the installation of control systems on new and/or existing equipment.
- Make programming changes that are required to maintain and improve the manufacturing process.
- Interface with vendors, integrators and other plant controls personnel
- Analyze and recommend improvement to manufacturing processes, which will benefit from automation techniques.
- Train production and maintenance personnel in control operations and maintenance functions.
- Provide daily/ongoing trouble shooting of Manufacturing Equipment.
- Develop long term countermeasures for chronic or extended downtime events using data-based decision making.
- Attend or lead daily production continuous improvement meetings.
- Assist in the development and the design of new tooling used in the manufacturing process.
- Assist Engineering Team with the procurement of project items and implementation.
- Keep organized documentation.
- Participate in continuous improvement process.
This position is located in Hartselle, AL. We'd love to hear from you if:
- Minimum education required: Associates degree in Automation, Electrical, or related technical field strongly preferred or Equivalent on the job experience.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other Plant personnel, including Safety, Maintenance, Engineering and Operations, to increase the understanding of equipment issues and receive consensus on the path forward.
- Ability to increase the understanding and competency of the Plant Maintenance Team.
- Minimum of 10 years related experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Must be a self-starter and able to work independently.
- Experience with industrial equipment and electrical troubleshooting.
- Be able to read, understand and modify technical drawings.
- Have excellent communication, problem-solving, and computer skills.
- Must have prior experience programming/configuring a broad range of PLC's including Allen-Bradley (Logix500 & 5000), HMI and VFDs.
Compensation: The annual base salary range for this role is from $135,600 to $152,550, plus an annual target bonus of 12.5% of base salary. #LI-TW1
