On-site Location 10260 McKee Road, Collegedale TN 37315 Job Summary McKee Foods is seeking a Safety Coordinator to join our Plant Safety team. This position leads the development and execution of plant safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting a strong safety culture. Oversees audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, training, and safety data analysis, while managing safety staff and coordinating emergency response efforts.
- Lead and continuously improve plant safety programs, policies, and management systems, ensuring alignment with company values and regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, NFPA)
- Conduct and oversee risk assessments, safety audits, incident investigations, and root cause analyses; implement corrective and preventive measures
- Manage safety compliance efforts, including regulatory inspections, emergency response planning and safety documentation readiness
- Develop and deliver training for employees, contractors, and visitors; foster a culture of safety through engagement, coaching, and hands-on leadership
- Analyze safety data and trends; prepare reports for leadership to drive strategic improvements and performance tracking
- Provide expert consultation on safety aspects of equipment, processes, and engineering projects
- Oversee safety personnel, assign responsibilities, and provide guidance and performance feedback
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Corporate Safety, Risk Management, and Employee Health Services to support workers' comp reviews and injury case management
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Health, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience (2 years of experience = 1 year of education)
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing safety role
- Experience in Safety Compliance and Regulation (OSHA, NFPA, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or similar credential
- Experience managing or leading a safety team in a food production environment
- Working knowledge of behavioral-based safety programs and leading cultural safety initiatives
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams on equipment or facility design from a safety perspective
- Strong communication and presentation skills with experience leading training across diverse groups
- Knowledge of workers' compensation programs and return-to-work processes
