In the absence of the Retail Pharmacy Manager, manages retail pharmacy operations for designated site and report to the Retail Pharmacy Manager. Responsible for achievement of customer service, clinical initiative objectives, financial objectives, and regulatory compliance; adherence to professional practices and Kelsey-Seybold Clinic (KSC) and Kelsey Pharmacy policies and procedures, and management of all assigned personnel including students. In the absence of the Retail Pharmacy Manager manage the pharmacy personnel, provision of service, inventory, and overall profitability. Performs all duties of a registered pharmacist including accurate dispensing and counseling of prescriptions to customers.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • In the absence of the Retail Pharmacy Manager manages all retail pharmacy operations for designated site and hourly pharmacy personnel
  • Performs professional duties and responsibilities, associated with the processing of prescriptions, to meet KSC and Kelsey Pharmacy objectives and maintains a pharmacy that delivers a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Ensures prompt and courteous customer service by all pharmacy personnel
  • Serves as role model for excellent customer service
  • Responsible for the profitable operation of the designated retail pharmacy including managing Cost of Goods Sold (COGs) to budget, management of supply expenses, and management of overtime by staff
  • Responsible for the implementation and adherence of KSC and Kelsey Pharmacy policies and procedures
  • Responsible for reading and responding when requested to emails and other communications sent by pharmacy administration on a timely basis
  • Responsible for adherence to federal and state Pharmacy laws
  • May serve as the Pharmacist-in-charge for licensing agreements
  • Responsible for the proper ordering and stocking of inventory to maintain patient availability while achieving both monthly purchasing expenditures and inventory turns objective
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate quantities on hand in the pharmacy operating system as well as maintaining appropriate minimum and maximum order points for all drug inventory to meet the needs of customers
  • Promotes training and education
  • Assists/delegates in the training of all pharmacy personnel and assigned students If requested can serve as a witness to any counseling with the Pharmacy Manager, Pharmacy Director, Pharmacy Administrator, and Human Resource
  • Ensures all pharmacy administered immunizations are documented in the electronic medical record as well as the pharmacy operating system, ensure all specialty documentation is complete in pharmacy operating system, ensure medication synchronization program is kept active and properly maintained for all enrolled patients
  • Ensures pharmacy technician and pharmacy service representative engagement with all pharmacy initiatives
  • Responsible for maintaining and growing prescription volume at designated site
  • Attend meetings as designated

Required Qualifications:



  • BS or Pharm D College of Pharmacy
  • Current Texas Pharmacy License
  • 2+ years of retail pharmacy experience
  • Operate computer terminal for processing prescriptions
  • Able to communicate with Pharmacy Department personnel to delegate duties, inform about policies, train, assist with performance appraisals, and approve refunds/expense/returns
  • Able to communicate with customers to handle complaints and problems, assist with questions, and recommend products/recommendations
  • Accurately process prescriptions within the required amount of time
  • Able to travel to multiple pharmacy locations



Preferred Qualifications:



  • BCLS
  • Immunization Certification
  • Pharmacy Preceptor Certification
  • 2+ years of experience as a Pharmacist-in-charge
  • HMO and 3rd party managed care experience



Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $43.22 to $77.21 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
