Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Scheduler to assist with scheduling surgeries and managing prior authorizations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating surgical appointments, ensuring compliance with insurance requirements, and providing exceptional support to patients and medical staff.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in scheduling or healthcare administration is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of pediatric neurology and cardiology is a plus
  • Knowledge of pediatric Urology and cardiology is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in using electronic health record systems and scheduling software
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Preferred:

  • Associate degree or higher preferred

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Shift- 8:00am-4:00pm
  • Per Diem/ As Needed

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate and schedule pediatric neurology and cardiology surgeries in collaboration with physicians, nursing staff, and other departments
  • Maintain an organized surgical calendar, ensuring optimal use of operating room time and resources
  • Communicate surgery dates and preparation instructions to patients and their families
  • Assist in obtaining prior authorizations from insurance companies for surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary documentation is submitted accurately and timely
  • Follow up on pending authorizations and resolve any issues or discrepancies that may arise
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for patients regarding scheduling inquiries, changes, and pre-operative instructions
  • Provide support and guidance to patients and families throughout the scheduling process, addressing any concerns or questions they may have
  • Maintain accurate records of surgery schedules, prior authorizations, and patient information in the electronic health record system
  • Prepare and submit reports related to surgical scheduling and authorizations as required
  • Work closely with physicians, nursing staff, and administrative personnel to ensure seamless patient care and effective communication
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to process improvement initiatives
