The Senior Director of Control Center is fully responsible for Control Center activities that support the North America Asset Operations department and broader platform, as required. Defines and builds an efficient organization, ensuring that operational directives are appropriately followed, unplanned turbine and high-voltage (HV) outages are responded to quickly, proper procedures are followed to ensure effective, efficient, and compliant operations, proper documentation is maintained, events are communicated with stakeholders as defined, and coordination with the Global Control Center organization occurs.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Directs and oversees the Remote-Operations Control Center (ROCC) and Operational Technology (OT) resources within North America
- Ensures that all Control Center teams work seamlessly within the Renewable Generating Assets (RGA) group such that all regulatory standards are followed, minimizing the risk of violations
- Ensures the successful and efficient performance of turbine resets and dispatch orders from ISOs, off-takers, and internal Market Operations staff for all operating plants (>10 GW), capturing incremental revenue above status quo
- Provides strategic direction for the technical and commercial evaluations for service providers of ROCC activities in coordination with the Global Control Center team
- Ensures EDPR NA operating plants have reliable communication, control and data acquisition processes and systems
- Ensures projects under construction are ready for integration into operations from a data and control perspective
- Provides feedback and direction to Engineering and Construction regarding specifications and lessons learned for new plants, particularly regarding SCADA and integration.
- Coordinates with the Compliance team to ensure EDPR NA's compliance with regulatory requirements of NERC, FERC, and state public utility commissions
- Maintains necessary documentation to support relevant NERC, FERC, and ISO regulations
- Prepares documentation that is submitted to NERC regulatory bodies for audits and spot checks as needed
- Oversees the implementation of the Renewable Energy Management System (REMS), in coordination with the Global Control Center team at all the company's operating sites in North America
- Develops and maintains strong collaborative relationships with global RGA teams to ensure alignment of ROCC, REMS and Operational Technology
- Ensures that Control Center staff receive the required regulatory, operational, and technical training
- Leads the development of standard operating procedures to ensure successful remote operations, maintenance, and NERC compliance
- Advises the North America management team on operational and regulatory concerns
- Promotes continuous improvement, with a focus on increasing EBITDA
- Oversees work of external consultants supporting Control Center matters
- Promotes team and individual development by conveying company values and public relations objectives.
- Communicates issues to senior leadership and key internal and external stakeholders

Travel: As required, less than 15%
Expenses: Departmental G&A budget of $7 million USD annually; responsible for reducing violation-based regulatory fines of up to $1 million USD per day
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field; advanced degree (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) preferred
- 5-10+ years in managing within regulated operations, including demonstrated experience: implementing and managing proactive programs that require effective coordination; achieving policy outcomes in diverse regulatory environments; and leading, managing, and developing a team of subordinates
- NERC Certification preferred
- Substantive knowledge of NERC regulatory issues, SAP PM, energy management systems, and control center operations
- Understanding of Microsoft products and/or complementing products
- Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise (Preferred)
