Job Title: PRN Research Surveys Project Developer, Senior

Job Summary: LCG is seeking a PRN Research Surveys Project Developer to support the development, maintenance, and integration of Qualtrics-based health research assessments. This PRN (as needed) position is ideal for candidates with expertise in survey development, project management, and health-related data collection technologies. Candidate must be available to respond to periodic requests for work and team engagement. Remote and onsite flexibility depending on project needs. Occasional in-person attendance may be required. Key Responsibilities

Survey Development and Customization


  • Design, build, and optimize Qualtrics XM surveys in collaboration with research investigators and clinical staff to meet diverse health assessment needs.
  • Review and translate survey requirement documentation into efficient, user-friendly and methodologically sound surveys.
  • Develop custom logic, conditional display rules, embedded data structures, and triggers for survey automation and scheduling.

Survey Lifecycle and Governance



  • Maintain an organized and scalable survey repository, implementing version control, naming conventions, and structured file management practices.
  • Document, track, and manage the entire lifecycle of surveys, from draft to active deployment and archival.
  • Establish and update internal standards, procedures, and templates for survey design and management.


Data Privacy and Compliance



  • Ensure that surveys and associated workflows are compliant with NIH privacy policies, and that appropriate access controls, permissions, and security configurations are applied.
  • Collaborate with the Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to proactively address potential risks and implement data protection measures.


Survey Integration, Data Handling & Reporting



  • Work with database teams to define export formats and build solutions for data extraction and integration with external systems such as research databases or analysis platforms.
  • Assist in the configuration of custom dashboards, summary reports, and real-time analytics using Qualtrics and Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Excel, Visio).
  • Monitor and report survey response rates, send volumes, and related metrics for licensing compliance and quality assurance.


Training, Support & Stakeholder Engagement



  • Train non-technical staff and principal investigators on standardized survey building practices, contact distribution workflows, and data retrieval procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison between the NIH support team, researchers, and Qualtrics support to troubleshoot issues and implement improvements.
  • Provide clear, written feedback and consultation during the survey design phase to improve quality and user engagement.


Technical Configuration & Enhancement



  • Use HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as needed to extend the functionality of Qualtrics surveys beyond native capabilities.
  • Configure advanced features like contact list triggers, embedded data flow, and automated conditional distributions.
  • Stay current with Qualtrics Community best practices, software updates, and emerging methodologies to continuously enhance performance and usability.


Project Management & Reporting



  • Manage multiple concurrent survey projects, ensuring timely progress across varying life cycle stages and levels of complexity.
  • Attend weekly meetings, provide bi-weekly activity updates, and deliver a monthly progress report outlining completed tasks, challenges, and upcoming milestones.
  • Coordinate with key personnel to ensure all project timelines, deliverables, and cost considerations are met.


Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years in a customer-facing or research-support role, with 1+ year full-time experience in Qualtrics survey development.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and professionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Visio.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Formal Qualtrics certification or training strongly preferred.
  • Experience using JavaScript, HTML, CSS within the Qualtrics environment.
  • Familiarity with C#, SQL, REST APIs, or web services.
  • Prior experience in health, clinical, or behavioral research environments is a plus.


Compensation and Benefits

The projected compensation range for this position is $60/hr to $70/hr benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
