CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our Infrastructure - Water Team at our Blacksburg, VA or Richmond, VA office.

Clean and safe water and wastewater management is vital for every community's well-being. CHA delivers environmentally friendly and cost-effective water, wastewater and stormwater projects, handling every step from assessment to planning and design in these critical situations.

In this key lead role at CHA, our Environmental Scientists plan technically complex work and execute field investigations with a solid knowledge of proper sampling techniques. These individuals are masters at appropriately reviewing, evaluating, and interpreting data, leading, and developing materials for managers, colleagues, and clients. The Environmental Scientist plays an important role in reviewing background information for projects with critical thinking and understanding of the bigger picture, as well as directing and mentoring junior scientists.

At CHA our Environmental Scientists are experts in environmental regulations and compliance with such regulations. The professional in this role will prepare environmental documentation, permits, and mitigation plans for a variety of clients. Additionally, this individual will complete phase II investigations, remedial action plans, and demolition oversight. Our Environmental Scientists also review, evaluate, and interpret environmental data and prepare technical reports, as well as prepare maps using GIS and related technology.

Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or related field
• Valid US driver's license required
• Minimum of 5 years of related experience required
• Water/wastewater experience preferred
• Experience with ArcMap or basic GIS Mapping is a plus
• Experience with Microsoft Word & Excel is required
• Strong ability to work in a team environment
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrates a strong willingness to learn about the respective scientific discipline
• Has proficient theoretical scientific knowledge
• Demonstrates and promotes a positive attitude toward position, group, and company
• Must have the ability to work in the field in different weather conditions
• Must be able to physically navigate in the field
• License/certification in technical discipline is preferred

$78,000 - $93,975

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
