Position Summary: The Accounting Manager is responsible for daily operations of the accounting operations, preparing Union Bank's financial statements, preparing selected affiliated companies' financial statements, complete general ledger and correspondent bank reconciliations, review other's reconciliations, oversee fixed asst function and maintain the fixed asset software. In addition, this position will assist the Asset-Liability Manager in functions related to interest rate risk and liquidity risk management along with developing related derivative strategies. The position will perform other assigned accounting functions including risk review, spreadsheet analysis, and other special projects as assigned. As part of our hybrid work from home opportunity guidelines, associates are expected to work 4 days onsite in Lincoln, NE with the opportunity of 1 day WFH each week. Essential Functions:
- Responsible for monthly preparation of Union Bank's financials and disbursement of monthly financial statements to management.
- Responsible for review of monthly financial statements of assigned responsibility centers.
- Assist the Asset-Liability Manager in compilation and analyses of business, economic, and other financial data for use by the Asset/Liability committee in managing interest rate and liquidity risks, funding and contingency funding sources/plans, monitoring and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and adherence to guidelines established by the Board.
- Assist the Asset-Liability Manager in designing, implementing and managing interest rate risk hedging strategies.
- Supervise daily operation and tasks of assigned staff within the accounts payable.
- In conjunction with the annual budget process, coordinate the completion of financial data and fixed asset data for both new and existing assets to be imported into Axiom.
- Responsible for interviewing, selecting, and training of employees, conducting evaluations, and directing workload for personnel in the accounts payable function.
- Responsible for the reconciling and calculation of the bank's Student Loan monthly consol rebate fees and quarterly LARS settlement including reporting and paying on various government websites.
- Prepare and review monthly financials for Retirement Direct, LLC and Union Investment Advisors, Inc.
- Coordinate and gather information from OMNE, the property management firm for the West Dodge Street building in Omaha, to allow preparation of monthly financial reports related to the building's operations.
- Regularly complete assigned general ledger and correspondent bank reconciliations, including but not limited to Application Reconciliations and Federal Reserve, in a timely manner.
- Responsible for daily risk review for transactions over $5k posted to the general ledger.
- Responsible for reviewing and entering assigned Controller Department reconciliations into the monthly RCP program for management review.
- Prepare and analyze assigned financial statement reports for management and Board of Directors use.
- Serve as backup for various positions within the Controller's department.
- Ensure other team members are trained and comply with bank policy, laws and regulations applicable to their roles. Monitor their adherence to internal controls and take action to address employee performance issues.
- Understand and adhere to all bank policies, laws, and regulations applicable to their role. Complete compliance training and follow internal processes and controls as required.
- Review and report all compliance issues, violations of law or regulations in accordance with the steps defined in bank policies.
- Perform other job-related duties or special projects as assigned.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field or comparable work experience required.
- Minimum of 4 years accounting experience required.
- Banking experience and CPA license preferred.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Fiserv, QuickBooks, and Director.
- General knowledge of accounting principles and tax regulations.
