Overview:

As Application Engineer - SKF Seals Automotive, you will directly
manage technical relationships with assigned customers, deploy SKF knowledge to get new business,
provide customer needs to the internal organization and support all related projects. You will
respond to technical enquiries, handle technical complaints, manage technical risks and support initiatives for FVC optimization

Key Responsibilities:


  • Manage customer relationship in particular focussing on the technical community
  • Discover, select and manage new business opportunities/leads in close collaboration with the SKF Sales organization
  • Coordinate development of SKF proposals in close cooperation with Sales, Business Development, Engineering and other relevant areas of the global SKF Seals organization
  • Present SKF offerings to customers with value-based selling
  • Follow and support key customer projects with full value chain agility
  • Follow ETO, ECR and other relevant procedures, manage and accurately document work assignments
  • Coordinate problem solving activities, investigate performance complaints and follow up on the appropriate actions
  • Participate/initiate and support cost-down activities including follow-up on customer approvals and implementation
  • Support internal and external technical communications / training presentations



Job Requirements:

4 years Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent

Kind of Work Knowledge:

Demonstrates knowledge of dynamic seal technology, seal testing and project management with automotive customers.

Prior Experience:

Extensive Seals Knowledge and minimum of 2 years experience as AE and/or Project Manager

Proactivity / Diligence:

Must be a self starter. Demonstrates initiative and creative ability. Must be able to translate design theory into practical application and follow project through successful completion including coordinating of efforts internally and with the customer.

Experience in dealing directly with customers:

Exercises good discretionary decision making in line with corporate

policy when dealing with customers or professional groups. Must

have excellent oral and written communication skills, including the

ability to influence others. Will exhibit good presentation skills.

Responsibilities:

Records: Engineering specifications, seal specifications, DVPR's,

Tech Responses, Test Procedures, Validation Reports, customer

correspondence, PDS (Product Data Sheets), Sample Orders, Tech Reviews, Project Management Tools

Public Contacts: Technical contacts, purchasing, quality, assembly plants

Confidential Matters: New products and plans, customer drawings, pending

patents, development programs.

Supervision:

Gives direction / input to product engineers, test lab engineers, material and

product development groups, sales, quality, and manufacturing.

Receives guidance in line with corporate objectives but works independently to take care of the customer and grow the SKF Automotive Seals Business.

Hazards: Slight hazard in travel and test lab interactions.
