What we do:

The Trade Desk is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join its Finance Team. In this role, you will manage third-party supplier costs accruals based on usage, with a focus on accurate accrual calculation and reporting (monthly/quarterly/annually). You will ensure compliance with US GAAP and supplier contract terms, reconcile accounts, analyze variances, and collaborate with Legal and Business teams to maintain accurate accrual accounting.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to partner across the business, ensure accurate financial reporting, and contribute to process improvements, operational excellence, and scalable accounting solutions. The ideal candidate will have a proactive ownership mindset, sound knowledge of US GAAP, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

What you'll do:

  • Calculate, accrue, and process supplier costs, ensuring proper accounting treatment in compliance with US GAAP.
  • Drive end-to-end close processes, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and maintaining key workbooks used for internal reporting and analyses.
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP, internal controls, and SOX requirements. Maintain audit-ready documentation and support internal and external audits with clear, timely, and accurate support during audits.
  • Perform detailed account reconciliations, variance analysis, fluctuation analysis, and ad hoc financial analysis. Provide actionable insights to help management make informed decisions.
  • Work with Finance Business Operations, Legal, and other teams to interpret supplier agreements, resolve issues, and ensure alignment of operational and accounting changes.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for supplier costs by providing clear, actionable accounting guidance to operational teams on supplier contract cost structures, margin analysis, related risks, and accounting impacts.
  • Identify efficiencies in accounting processes and support ongoing process improvements and ad-hoc projects.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in general ledger and financial reporting, with an emphasis on supplier costs accrual accounting, preferably in a public company.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP, cost accruals, and financial reporting principles.
  • Experience managing supplier contracts and applying accounting principles to resolve operational issues.
  • Experience with SOX controls and audit processes, including maintaining documentation and supporting audits.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, with a strong understanding of key formulas such as XLOOKUPs, SUMIFS, IF, VLOOKUP, CONCATENATE, and the ability to combine various formulas to derive meaningful insights and results.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and non-accounting stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing solutions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle Cloud, Coupa, or similar platforms is a plus.
