Responsible for planning, designing and implementing improvements to Radiology's computerized systems. Continually improves the operations, stability, and performance of PACS while minimizing downtime. Serves as lead technical expert in resolving radiology systems issues. Supervises radiology systems staff and provides coaching and training to the systems staff and end-users. Develops detailed capital plans and provides expertise during vendor negotiations.

Operational

  1. Assumes responsibility for, through assigned Supervisor(s), Specialist(s) and PACS Administrator(s), the effective management of radiology systems. Evaluates daily activities and makes operational changes as necessary to improve service levels
  2. Responsible for the uptime and efficiency of PACS and related ancillary software applications. This includes workflow and access for hospitals, outpatient imaging and physician practices.
  3. Identifies the needs of the departments and individuals (hospital and Medical Staff) served by Radiology Systems and develops departmental goals, objectives, policies and procedures.
  4. May develop and provide input into hospitalwide policies or departmental policies that impact across division lines. Actively participates on committees which addresses systems or operational issues.
  5. Assumes division wide and hospitalwide responsibilities for projects and issues as assigned. Actively participates on hospital committees.
  6. May negotiate agreements with provider groups for certain products and services.
  7. Consults with radiologists and other physicians to determine specific professional needs, requirements and considers recommendations for improvements in technical service.
  8. Works with all PACS systems in Radiology and those systems utilized in owned/affiliated MD locations.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

  1. Bachelor of Science Degree, preferably in IT, Radiology or Business
  2. Three (3) years management experience, preferably in Radiology IT or other healthcare related field.
  3. Five (5) years relevant Radiology IT experience
  4. Good written and oral communication skills.
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state regulatory standards.
