Job Summary	The Department of Neuroscience and the Center for Advanced Pain Studies at UT Dallas is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join the Yousuf Lab. This position focuses on NIH grant-funded projects aimed at understanding the mechanisms and treatments of chronic pain using preclinical models. The ideal candidate will have experience working with rodents, including performing behavioral assays, surgeries, and dissections. Additionally, experience with cell culture, particularly generating and maintaining primary cultures from rodent and human dorsal root ganglia, is required. Proficiency in routine molecular biology techniques such as Western blotting, PCR, immunohistochemistry, and microscopy is also expected. Experience with bioinformatics or computational biology tools is highly recommended, though not required. *This is an NIH grant-funded position, and continued employment is contingent upon the availability of funds.*
Minimum Education and Experience	Associate degree with a minimum of two years hands on experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
Preferred Education and Experience	Highly Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Biology or a related field 2+ years of hands-on laboratory experience Technical proficiency in molecular biology methods (e.g., Western blotting, PCR, nucleic acid purification) and cell biology techniques (e.g., cell culture, microscopy)
Other Qualifications	To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities	Essential Duties & Responsibilities Lead and conduct experiments under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) Provide technical and research support to key laboratory personnel Accurately document experimental procedures and results Assist with the maintenance of laboratory equipment and standard operating procedures (SOPs) Troubleshoot technical issues, summarize findings, and present results Manage rodent colonies used in research experiments Perform other duties as assigned Specific Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong motivation to learn and master new methods and techniques Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with all levels of staff Proficiency in recording and reporting results with clarity Persistence, strong attention to detail, and willingness to troubleshoot technical challenges
