College of Engineering Job Description
The University of Missouri (MU) seeks applications and nominations for outstanding faculty candidates with a focus on Nuclear Materials and Engineering, Quantum Computing and Artificial Intelligence, and Energy Materials and Engineering. This recruitment is part of MizzouForward, the most important strategic investment to achieve research excellence and student success in the history of the University. This initiative will leverage existing institutional strengths and address national health and scientific priority areas through innovation and collaboration. Successful candidates will have outstanding, competitive, externally funded research programs in any area related to Nuclear Materials and Engineering, Quantum Computing and Artificial Intelligence, and Energy Materials and Engineering. Candidates with compelling research success in areas beyond the ones listed will also be considered, especially related to Advanced Manufacturing and Aerospace Engineering. Positions are available in all departments in the College of Engineering and joint appointments between multiple departments within and outside the College are possible. Incoming faculty will build on existing strengths in energy, including nuclear science and energy and nuclear-engineered materials, the MU Research Reactor (MURR), the Materials Science and Engineering Institute (MSEI), Center for Geospatial Intelligence (CGI), and Center for Cybersecurity. We are also excited to welcome new faculty into the Energy Innovation Center, a 116,000 square-foot world class facility that will bring scientists and engineers of all disciplines together to design sustainable solutions and strengthen domestic energy supply. Faculty doing research in Quantum Computing will join the Quantum Innovation Center, an exciting partnership across the University of Missouri System and academic and industry partners nationwide. Incoming faculty will also have the opportunity to collaborate with research colleagues currently supporting the UM System's NextGen Precision Health initiative. MU has outstanding core facilities, the MU Research Reactor (MURR), the NextGen Precision Health core facilities including a 7 Tesla MRI, and the Electron Microscopy Core Facility. Additionally MU provides resources like the Advanced Light Microscopy, the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Core, the PET Imaging Center, access to the Hellbender, a high-power computing environment, the Materials Characterization & Fabrication Core, the Micro X-ray Core, the Immersive Visualization CAVE for AI/Big Data Analytics, as well as Class 1000 Clean Rooms within the MU Materials Science and Engineering Institute (MSEI), Further, MU is home to the Gehrke Proteomics Center, the Metabolomics Center, the Genomics Technology Core.
