Position Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic Location: Gulfport CRTC, Gulfport, MS Employment Status: Full-Time Regular FLSA Classification: SCA Hourly *This position is contingent upon award of contract. Position Summary: Advancia Government Services (a federal government contractor) seeks a qualified full-time Heavy Equipment Mechanic. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic performs a variety of major repairs and services primarily on heavy equipment tactical, commercial and transport vehicles (class 7 and 8), and may be asked to support a few medium and light duty assets (see list below). Essential Duties & Responsibilities: * The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is under the direct supervision of the Lead Mechanic, and receives guidance from the Gov't Maintenance Manager * The Heavy Equipment Mechanic performs a variety of major repairs and services to maintain heavy equipment, tactical, commercial and transport vehicles * Conducts research and prepares records and forms to reflect essential information * Ensures all documents are finalized and maintained IAW local regulations * Performs maintenance repair, rebuild, overhaul, inspect major assemblies and determine repair parts for equipment * Checks and replaces batteries; rotate, repair and replace tires, pneumatic and flush cooling systems * Removes, repairs or replaces engines, transmissions and differentials * Adjusts brakes, replace windshields, wipers and similar components of the same characteristics * Performs major overhauls by disassembling, cleaning, and replacing faulty components IAW appropriate procedures * Repairs components such as generators, water/hydraulic pumps and electrical system * Performs routine and extensive maintenance on diesel engines, fuel and exhaust systems, and electrical wiring * Performs diagnostic tests using measuring devices, instruments, test equipment or special tools * Required to dismantle components for internal examination of damage or excessive wear * Operates and utilizes an assortment of tools to perform repairs that include power, pneumatic, and machinery such as grinding machines, presses, torch-cutting equipment, jacks and hoists to lift and move large components * Required to add critical or explanatory notations on completed maintenance documents following equipment repair and testing IAW AFI 24-302. * Performs other duties as assigned Education, Experience and Skill Requirements: * High School Diploma or equivalent (GED). * Must possess a state issued driver's license. * Must have experience and understanding of heavy equipment, vehicle repair, electrical, heating systems and diesel maintenance. * Level II (minimum), emergency vehicle qualification, IAW National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1071 Standard for Emergency Vehicle Technician Professional Qualifications within 90 days. * Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification Commission, Inc., or other equivalent certifying agencies certifications, if applicable within 90 days. * Knowledge and understanding of the following Air Force IT Systems: Vehicle Dispatch, DPAS, LMIS-EV Vehicle View TRT, AFI 24-301 and AFI 24-302. * Able to obtain all required certifications for operating the following vehicles within first 90 days: o BUS SURREY 23 PAX TRK 1/2T CREW CAB 4X2 TRAC WHLD IW70 o BUS SCH 25-29 PAX 4X2 DE TRK 1/2T CREW CAB 4X4 TRAC TOW SUPPORT EQP o BUS SCH 42-45 PAX 4X2 DE TRK DP 24000-33000GVW 4X2 TRAC W-BACKHOE / LOADER o CLNR VAC TM SP MLTPUR AT TRK PU 4DR 4X4 F450 TRAC ACFT TWG U-30 o HALVORSEN ACFT LDR 25K TRK STK 4X2 1T 7000 GVW TRAC ACFT TWG MB-4 o STLR LB 20T 25 FT TRK S/P 4X2 10000 GVW TRAC ACFT TWG MB-2 o STLR LB 20T 38FT PATROL PICKUP TRUCK TRK FIRE CRS RESCUE P-19 UHP o STLR LB 50T 6W TRK FL DED 6M-6200 PT TRK FIRE CRS RESCUE P-23 UHP o STLR VAN 30FT 12 TON TRK TRAC 6X4 MLOX 64-72K TRK WRK HYD TYPE 1 32000 o STAIRCASE TRUCK TRK FL ELEC 4M-5999 ST TRK WATER TANKER P-26 o C-5 STAIRCASE TRUCK TRK TRAC 6X4 39.5-44K GVW TRK WRK TILTBED o TRK HI REA 30-59 FT TRK FL 10K 463L TRK FIRE PUMPER P-22 o TRK MAINT 3/4TON 4X4 GED TRK FL 10K AT 463L TRK FFGT HRV P-30 o TRK TK FUEL 1200GL 4X4 TRK V Refrgr 4X2 19000 GVW TRK TK 6000 GAL R-11 DED o TRUCK 1/2T REG CAB 4X2 TRK-V 16000-24000 GVW 4X2 TRK FFGT RIV P-34
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills * USAF 2T3 Mission Generation Vehicular Equipment Maintenance (4-6 yrs.). * Currently holding required certifications and qualifications listed above. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities * Journeyman skill level on Class 7 and 8 assets (4-6 yrs.) experience. * Knowledge of proper use and procedures to manage hazardous materials and hazardous waste products * Knowledge of the standard tools, equipment and material * Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally work outside * Capable of collaborating with Senior Leaders. * Skills in monitoring program progress against execution of plans, metrics and desired outcomes, assessing and identifying capability gaps and opportunities for improvement to enable a culture of high performance, and managing multiple complex programs in a fast-paced environment with many partners and stakeholders. * Ability to work as part of a team with strong interpersonal skills. * Strong command of Microsoft Office and ability to produce deliverables that carry a "stamp of excellence." * Able to understand, adhere to and enforce corporate values, policies, procedures, and standards. * Good interpersonal and communication skills. * Good business writing and oral communication skills. * Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension). * Better-than-average skill in current versions of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). * Capable of passing background investigation and periodic drug testing. Additional Qualifying Factors * Must be authorized to work in the US * Possess a valid driver's license (any state), ability to operate a motor vehicle, able to provide clean driving record and current vehicle insurance coverage. * Eligible for access onto military installations following background and security checks. * Flexibility with work schedule is mandatory because it impacts the ability to support and serve military.
