The IT Software Engineer I applies engineering principles and practices to develop, implement, and manage Simmons Enterprise Integrations. They play a vital role in ensuring that Simmons' IT integrations function effectively and efficiently while meeting the needs of the Business and Customers. They will be responsible for troubleshooting complex technical issues and collaborate across the unit's areas to integrate, innovate, and drive productivity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understands and utilizes existing infrastructure and business processes to improve efficiency.

  • Provides troubleshooting and support on applicable applications.

  • Develops expertise in assigned Business or technical application systems.

  • Develops and participates in testing for new Integration applications.

  • Supports and Enhances existing Integration applications. .

  • Acquires and maintains application expertise through certification and educational programs.

  • Provides escalated Tier 1-2 support, including researching issues and determining options for resolution.

  • Understands proper Business, Vendor and inter-departmental escalations.

  • Complies with bank policies as applicable to this position.

  • Ensures that all departmental documents and activities are performed in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to this position, including completion of required and on-going compliance training.

  • Develops and deploys complex updates to software applications.

  • Participates in a contributing role on IT related projects as assigned.

  • Participates in discussions with hardware and software partners.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Skills

  • Ability to write, read and interpret documents such as requirements documents, technical diagrams, procedure manuals, general business correspondence and or government regulations.

  • Azure APIM: Hands-on experience with Azure API Management for designing, building, and configuring APIs, including implementing policies for security, throttling, and caching.

  • Strong programming skills in C# and .NET.

  • API Design: Good understanding of REST and SOAP-based APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger specifications, and typical integration patterns.

  • API Security: Knowledge of API security concepts such as OAuth2, JWT, OpenID Connect, and client certificate authentication.

  • Azure Ecosystem: Familiarity with other relevant Azure services like Azure Functions, Logic Apps, App Services, and Azure Monitor.

  • Databases: Proficiency in SQL and an understanding of relational database concepts.

  • Cloud Security: General understanding of cloud security principles and compliance standards for Azure environments.

  • Understanding of Secure Coding best practices.

  • Infrastructure Automation: Some experience with tools like Azure ARM templates, Bicep, or Terraform for deploying and automating infrastructure.

Education and/or Experience

  • Associate's degree or higher preferred

  • Three plus years of experience as a technical engineer or equivalent

Other Computer Skills

  • Skilled in use of Office automation tools (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.)

  • Advanced understanding of networking, cloud computing, server architecture, data management, and/or banking business processes.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Certification in applicable technical applications preferred

  • Banking Certification or experience a plus

Other Qualifications (including physical requirements)

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational, problem solving, and planning skills with the ability to set priorities.

  • General banking knowledge preferred.

  • Hands-on experience with AI development using Co-Pilot Studio or similar.
