We seek a highly motivated and passionate individual to join Operation Outbreak (OO) program, a multi-institution outbreak science initiative, as a Project Coordinator based at The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. This role is a great opportunity for a recent college graduate (entry-level position) who is motivated to make a positive impact in the field of public health and outbreak science education. As a Project Coordinator, you will play a vital role in supporting the planning, implementation, evaluation, and coordination of various initiatives within the OO program. All of the below responsibilities will be executed in close partnership with OO leadership.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, execution, and evaluation of OO's various initiatives.
  • Scout and spearhead new initiatives and partnerships with educational and corporate organizations.
  • Support academic research and writing projects as they align with OO's focus areas.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to coordinate project activities, including scheduling meetings and preparing agendas.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of program-related data and evaluation metrics.
  • Assist in creating promotional materials, presentations, and outreach campaigns to raise awareness about OO's initiatives.
  • Support the logistical and administrative aspects of educational events, workshops, and conferences, including venue selection, coordinating speakers, managing registrations, and overseeing event logistics.
  • Manage OO's social media channels.
  • Prepare regular progress reports, summarizing key achievements, challenges, and recommendations for program improvement.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as public health, biology, biomedical sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workloads, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping, data management, and project documentation.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders, fostering positive working relationships.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving, able to adapt to changing priorities and handle unforeseen challenges.
  • Familiarity with Google Suite tools (i.e. Google Docs, Sheets, etc.).
  • Basic understanding of-and a keen interest in-infectious diseases, public health principles, and a passion for promoting outbreak science education.
