Summary: The PLC Control Trainee will be training underneath a PLC Control Technician who provides support and troubleshooting for Trident's new and existing automated seafood processing equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help with the setup of new PLC systems and components.
  • Diagnosing and repairing problems with electrical and control systems
  • Performing regular inspection and preventative maintenance on PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Making adjustment to PLC programs, especially those with less complex requirements.
  • Recording work performed and system changes accurately.
  • Working with other technicians, engineers, and production staff to resolve issues mainly around VFD drives, relay logic, and all controls.
  • Continuously developing skills and knowledge in PLC programming, troubleshooting, and automation.
  • Supports maintenance and/or repair of equipment as needed.
  • Assists with implementation and/or monitoring of SOP's and ensures location staff is trained to standard.
  • Assists implementation of equipment upgrades.
  • Assists with development of automation opportunities for manufacturing equipment or processes.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings

Minimum Requirements

Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs):

  • Basic experience around electrical components and electrical systems.
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Experience with basic computer knowledge

Preferred Training and Skills:

  • PLC and/or Control classes.

Work environment (includes travel/on-call):

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Mental demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use teamwork skills. The employee will occasionally use interpersonal and customer service skills. The employee will occasionally perform basic math and read, speak, and write English. The employee will frequently need to understand English.
