The Division of Student Affairs fosters student growth and development. The Division of Student Affairs aids, directs and informs students about services and programs that will expand students' educational experiences and prepare them for diverse lives in local and global communities. The Division of Student Affairs is responsible for many of the outside the classroom/off campus aspects of student life at
ECSU, including student engagement and leadership; career services; student disability services, residential life; student activities; community standards; special programs and services; student health & counseling services and career services.

Description of Work |
The Project Director of the
OVW (Office of Violence Against Women) Position is a 1-year term, grant funded full-time position that will work closely within the Division of Student Affairs and across the university to create an inclusive learning environment. The Director is responsible for the administering the Office of Violence Against Women (
OVW) Grant to reduce sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking on campus. The Director will develop and present leadership and informational programs to help students and members of the university community develop and maintain healthy relationships as it relates to interpersonal violence while also aiding the campus community in its ability to discuss and explore issues of diversity, inclusion, culture, ability ethnicity, gender, race, religion, social class, political affiliation, national origin, sexual orientation and other issues. |
Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this Position |
This position will be temporary.
Possess a thorough understanding of interpersonal violence and the ability to work with a diverse array of survivors and advocates, both male and female.
Possess strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and writing skills including one-on-one sessions, small and large group presentations, workshops and trainings.
Possess the ability to build collaborative partnerships with diverse stakeholders. Possess the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and work effectively with students, faculty, and administrative constituencies.
Possess the ability to work in a multi-racial environment and the commitment to social justice practice.
Exercise sound judgment and decision making. Possess team orientation skills and demonstrate commitment to collaborative work both within and outside the institution
Possess experience working with interpersonal violence issues in a university setting preferred as is the ability to tailor prevention programs to different audiences
Possess the knowledge and experience with peer education models, marketing, public speaking, and program design. |
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation |
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 1 year of experience in the field or equivalent |
