Position Title |
Business Adjunct Faculty (Full time) |
Job Summary |
The Evergreen State College seeks a faculty member to co-teach an innovative, interdisciplinary program provisionally entitled Business in a Complex World, a 16-credit per quarter coordinated studies program offered in Winter and Spring quarters. This program is foundational for undergraduates preparing for advanced study or careers in business, public policy, nonprofit leadership, or entrepreneurship. We welcome applicants who bring strong disciplinary expertise in business as well as a commitment to interdisciplinary teaching and Evergreen's distinctive liberal arts pedagogy.
About the Program:
Business in a Complex World examines how organizations-public, private, and nonprofit-can act responsibly and thrive amid global complexity and change. Students will explore foundational business topics through the lenses of ethics, sustainability, and systems thinking, while gaining practical skills in leadership, accounting, strategic analysis, and communication. The program includes case studies, simulations, collaborative projects, a residential retreat, and engagement with local organizations.
Winter quarter will emphasize principles of business management, financial and managerial accounting, organizational behavior, and systems thinking.
Spring quarter will focus on international strategy, marketing, a team-based business simulation, and a capstone project. |

Position Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Co-plan and co-teach this two-quarter coordinated studies program (16 credits per quarter)
- Teach Financial and Managerial Accounting (winter quarter) and Strategic Business Simulation (spring quarter) as well as deliver content in the following areas business management, business strategy, organizational behavior, leadership, business ethics, international business, or marketing

This arrangement allows for in-depth, interdisciplinary and experiential learning, and the building of strong learning communities. Faculty are also responsible for advising students as they reflect on their learning process, develop a pathway of study, and formulate their own areas of concentration.
Our teaching is student-centered, which means we are interested in helping students develop strong skills in critical thinking, problem solving, communication and collaborative work. Because over 80% of our students come from underserved and marginalized groups, we are particularly invested in approaches to teaching that emphasize diversity and equity, that provide opportunities for challenge and growth, and that foster a learning environment where all are welcome and all can learn from each other.
