We are currently seeking an EHS&T Supervisor to join our Boart Longyear team based in Salt Lake City, UT.

The EHS&T Supervisor will report to the US Regional EHS&T Manager and will provide leadership and oversight to a group of field EHS&T professionals responsible for the implementation of prevention-focused EHS&T programs. This position will develop, execute, and deliver regional and divisional strategies that support the overall EHS&T objectives of the business.

EHS&T Supervisors can expect to spend at least 50% of their time in the field, working with divisional business partners and drill crews. Travel may include vehicle and air travel as needed to support drilling operations in multiple states across the US. These operations may require performing work in difficult or challenging work environments and may include exposure to heat, extreme cold, underground mine hazards, surface mine hazards, windy/dusty atmospheric conditions, hazardous waste sites, etc., and may require some nightwork.

Responsibilities



  • Regularly visits sites and conducts inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards.
  • Ensures that the quality of safety documents such as risk assessments, pre-start checklists, inspections and permits is of a high standard and reflects reality
  • Supervises the creation and delivery of safety training programs educating employees on safe working practices, appropriate equipment operation, and emergency procedures.
  • Conducts regular interactions to ensure that procedures are followed and that knowledge is transferred to employees as required
  • Assesses impact of training programs on organizational safety or accident rates, and suggests modifications to training curriculum as needed.
  • Investigates incidents or accidents, gathers and analyzes statistics, and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Liaises frequently with the client and attends safety meetings as required
  • Prepares and submits reports and investigations in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures that sites meet leading and lagging KPI targets and develops plans if targets are not met
  • Ensures that BLYs EHS fundamentals are being followed
  • Hire review, coach, and develop the position of safety specialist. Monitoring work, adherence to policy and safety requirements.
  • Other duties as needed


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in related field or at least 7 years of experience in mining, or previous military experience is beneficial
  • 3 Years of Experience in the Drilling industry or similar industrial contract service organization
  • 3-5 Year experience supervising or managing EHST professionals
  • CSP, CIH, or CMSP preferred
  • Ability to Foster Teamwork

  • Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills
  • Ability to Build Collaborative Relationships and Influence Others
  • Strong Ability for Problem and Situational Analysis
  • Detail-Oriented and Attentive
