Job Description

Division: Commercial


Department: ABL - Mid Atlantic


Reports to: SVP, ABL Regional Leader - NJ & PA


Status: Exempt/Officer


Grade: 14


Salary Range: $115,297 - $244,889


Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location.


Location: Remote - NJ or PA




Purpose/Objective:



Provides relationship management support to Lending Officers in monitoring and servicing an existing portfolio of complex loans and borrowing relationships. Continuously evaluates operational and financial performance to maintain portfolio quality and risk rating accuracy. Interacts with customers as well as bank employees to address credit and deposit service-related matters in a satisfactory manner. Supports Lending Officers in all aspects of servicing customers including new business activity. Plays an active role in the training and development of junior team members.



Key Accountabilities:


Portfolio Size/Composition



  • Supports Relationship Manager(s) (RM) with the management of a defined portfolio of existing Commercial Customers with revenues between $10MM and $100MM and borrowing needs of $2.0MM or more
  • Customers may have unique and/or more challenging banking needs
  • Customers may require specialized knowledge/industry expertise (ABL)



Portfolio Monitoring/Maintenance



  • Supports RM in the proactive management of the portfolio to ensure early detection of material changes in customer performance
  • Manages all reporting delinquencies to ensure timely receipt of all financial, collateral, borrowing base, insurance, letter of credit and documentation exception/post-closing information including scanning information to be filed.
  • Completion of Annual Reviews for relationships less than $2.0MM, periodic file memos, modifications and waivers per policy under the direction of the RM
  • Requests Appraisals/Environmental Reports under the direction of the RM
  • Manages Relationship ID designation
  • Ensures completion of CIP Form
  • Assists RM with the approval of all overdrafts as appropriate
  • Ensures Credit File completeness



Credit/Analytical Skills



  • Credit Trained or equivalent level of experience
  • Ability to assess financial performance and risk including identifying ways to mitigate risk to the bank
  • Solid working relationship with Credit Partners to ensure ongoing credit quality of portfolio
  • Preparation of Opportunity Review Committee Memos with minimal guidance from the RM
  • Strong underwriting skills and ability to work through modifications and annual reviews with minimal guidance from the RM
  • Strong working knowledge of Loan policy and proven ability to adhere to sound risk management/pricing practices as well as to all internal and external credit/regulatory requirements
  • May have specialized industry/market knowledge consistent with portfolio (ABL)



Customer Service/Support



  • Provides excellent customer service
  • Ability to resolve customer problems independently
  • Supports RM in call preparation
  • Accompanies RM on calls as appropriate as well as going on calls independently to smaller customers



Deal Structuring/Loan Closing



  • Supports RM in loan structuring and term sheet preparation including ability to independently draft term sheets and Opportunity Memos for complex deals for review by RM.
  • Completes Profitability Model with minimal input from RM
  • Ability to review loan documentation with minimal guidance from RM
  • Supports RM with new business activity including Opportunity Memos, preparation of Term Sheets, Loan Closings and post-closing follow up with the ability to conduct Loan Closings independently.



Partner Relationships



  • Demonstrated solid working relationships with internal partners including Credit, Documentation & Loan Specialists, Risk Management, Cash Management, Private Banking, Wealth Management, Retail, Insurance and Home Lending
  • Interacts with partners with minimal supervision of the RM



Product Knowledge



  • Strong knowledge of Commercial Credit Products and Services
  • Developing well-rounded knowledge of products sold by internal partners including Cash Management, Private Banking, Wealth Management, Retail and Home Lending
  • Ability to identify various cross sell opportunities and make solid product recommendations to meet customer needs



Networking/Community Involvement



  • Actively working to expand and develop Centers of Influence and presence in the Community



Special Projects



  • Assists with all special projects including Loan Review/Regulator Audit preparation, ongoing due diligence, industry research and portfolio scrubs as needed.



Ensures compliance with all banking laws, rules, regulations, and prescribed policies/practices/procedures necessary to reduce risk and uphold ethical standards related to and required by one's duties.



Education:



  • BS Degree in Business, Economics or Finance
  • Equivalent financial experience
  • MBA a plus



Experience:



  • Minimum of 15+ years of Asset Based Lending experience



Skills & Knowledge:



  • Solid written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to present identified issues and recommended solutions to RM/Senior Management/ORC/ELC as appropriate
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to work as a member of team
