Trim Manager

As the Trim Manager, you'll be responsible for overseeing the trim and holds functions within the cheese packaging operation. This role will manage the Trim Leads and Hold Coordinators who are responsible for efficiently adding trim back into production, monitoring and reworking product in the Holds Department, and ensuring all rework meets customer specifications and quality requirements. The Trim Manager will provide leadership, training, and daily direction to the team while driving efficiency, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives to support overall plant performance.



  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the trim and holds team, ensuring accurate, efficient, and timely processes.
  • Oversee the trim process to ensure materials are returned to the production line effectively, minimizing waste and maximizing yield.
  • Manage the Holds Department, including product segregation, evaluation, and rework to meet company, customer, and regulatory quality standards.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate employees, promoting a culture of safety, quality, and accountability.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Production teams to resolve product issues, investigate discrepancies, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records related to trim usage, rework, and product disposition.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and company policies.
  • Lead and/or participate in continuous improvement projects, including yield optimization, efficiency gains, and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Monitor KPIs and recommend changes to processes or staffing to meet production and quality goals.
  • Support cross-departmental communication and collaboration to align with business objectives.
  • Effectively communicate with customer service, quality control, warehouse personnel, and production personnel.


What You Can Offer



  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate or Bachelor Degree in Food Science, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
  • Previous leadership experience in food manufacturing, preferably in dairy or cheese packaging.
  • Strong knowledge of GMPs, HAACP, food safety, and quality systems.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a small team.
  • Strong problem solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Must possess a broad practical approach to Continuous Improvement.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products and Redzone Production Management.
  • Ability to work weekend hours and additional hours as needed.
