Overview
Astrion/MEIS is seeking an ElectroMechanical Engineer to join our Space Systems division. MEIS (an Astrion subsidiary) supports NASA Ames Research Center Electrical Power Reliability Office (EPrO). EPrO has been set up to provide electrical power system protection in areas including arc flash calculation, relay coordination, relay programming, settling, calibration, maintenance for NASA Ames electrical distribution systems. Salary 90-100K US Citizenship required. Requires successful Background check. EPrO manages the NASA Ames electrical distribution systems and uses SKM software, perform short circuit calculations and relay coordination, arc flash calculations and arc flash labels, relay programing and setting, Relays calibrations and maintenance, EPrO database and updating/baseline drawings. Astrion is looking for an ElectroMechanical Engineer to support the following: Responsibilities for this role include:
- Perform the Ames power systems electro-mechanical, solid state and microprocessor protective relays schedule calibrations and maintenance.
- Maintain written standard safety, commissioning, testing and maintenance procedures for protective devices.
- Perform electro-mechanical and solid-state relays field and bench calibration, setting and testing.
- Perform schedule field and bench checking and maintenance for electro-mechanical and microprocessor relays, transducers, metering, UPS batteries, circuit breakers and automatic controls
- Perform microprocessor relays field and remote programming, setting, and testing.
- Perform installation, commissioning, testing and maintenance of protective relays, transducers, and metering.
- Perform field function testing of control circuits at relay panel, for motors and transformers.
- Review A1---0201 E series, Ames one-line meter & relays diagrams include all power monitoring and protection systems.
- Print arc flash labels
- Update relay settings and submit to EPrO database.
- Perform SKM and SEL relays software update.
- Present work progress to EPrO monthly meeting.
Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
- Minimum of 10-year experiences in SEL microprocessor relay, electromechanical and solid-state relays calibration and setting
- Understanding of NASA Ames Electrical Power System
- Qualified NASA Electrical Worker
- Proficient in SKM Software
- Strong problem solving and communication skills
- Onsite 5 days per week, weekend and nights may be required
