The Maintenance Lead has responsibilities to maintain, troubleshoot and repair a variety of electrical and mechanical equipment in a food processing environment. This position requires proficiency in multiple skill clusters, such as electrical controls, fluid power, mechanical systems, welding, fabrication and manufacturing processes. This person will perform medium-to-high-level machine systems troubleshooting and repair and provide technical support for all phases of the operation. This work will be of average to considerable difficulty in the accomplishment of a variety of mechanical maintenance actions. Core Responsibilities
- Lead the Team: Supervise and guide a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring tasks are completed on time and to standard.
- Oversee Maintenance Operations: Manage preventive maintenance and equipment repairs, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
- Troubleshoot & Resolve Issues: Act as the go-to person for diagnosing and solving complex mechanical and electrical issues.
- Coordinate with Departments: Collaborate with production and other teams to prioritize maintenance needs and reduce disruption.
- Ensure Safety & Compliance: Ensure all safety protocols, policies, and regulatory standards are followed on the job
- Manage Inventory: Oversee inventory levels and ensure the team has the tools and parts needed for successful repairs and maintenance.
- Rebuild valves, pumps and gearboxes in the shop areas and train new employees in the rebuilding process.
- Performs preventive maintenance tasks such as lubricating parts, drives chains, etc.
- Complete ALL repair notification and work orders within SAP on a daily basis and communicate to the Maintenance Manager if tasks cannot be accomplished before leaving.
- Complete established preventative maintenance duties on a daily basis and develop procedures for new preventative maintenance.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures for major overhauls of netters and injectors.
- Assist Maintenance Planner/Scheduler in ordering parts for equipment and projects.
- Safety First! - You'll follow all company safety protocols, including LOCKOUT/TAGOUT procedures, and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) to maintain a safe, compliant, and high-performance environment. - High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1+ years of related experience and/or training in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment; or 4 years' direct experience in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing maintenance environment.
- Vocational Diploma, Technical Diploma or associate degree from a technical maintenance or vocational school. (Preferred).
- Possess the ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors.
- Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift or scissor lift or other powered industrial trucks (PIT).
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to read and execute work orders, write daily reports, and translate equipment manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Knowledge of Window applications including Microsoft Excel spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
- Must be available for night and weekend.
