CNB is looking for a qualified, motivated, and customer- and team-focused individual to join our team as an ON-SITE Assistant Manager at our Main Office in Hillsdale, Michigan.
JOB SUMMARY
Oversees teller activities for three locations within Hillsdale. Works closely with Branch Manager and CSR staff for coordination and coverage for the Hillsdale office frontline staff.
This is a highly visible, mid-level management position that understands the importance of representing management and the Bank in a professional manner, setting an example for the staff in their behavior, professionalism and leadership, and taking ownership within this role.
DUTIES
- Supervises the teller team at the Hillsdale lobby, Hillsdale Drive-up, and 1 West Carleton Drive-up.
- Observes, coaches and holds the teller team accountable to performance metrics including balancing standards, service expectations and referral goals.
- Promotes cross-selling (referrals) of CNB products and services with Teller staff and assists with setting goals.
- Conducts morning team huddles and monthly one-on-one coaching sessions.
- Maintains a branch schedule to ensure adequate staffing levels at the Hillsdale lobby, Drive-up and 1 West Carleton locations.
- Ensures that policies and procedures are followed and that the Teller team are aware of proper operating procedures.
- Oversees daily cash operations, including bait money, daily teller cash general ledger balancing and cash ordering/shipment processes. Monitors cash limits in teller drawers and overall cash totals to stay within the established limits.
- Oversees the ATM balancing and dispute processes for the Hillsdale and Pittsford ATMs.
- Oversees monthly alarm test and cash audit requirements. Conducts monthly surprise cash audits, compiles and submits reports by the last business day of the month.
- Conducts performance reviews for the teller team, provides coaching to tellers on a regular basis, takes disciplinary action as needed.
- Reviews and approves time off/vacation requests and timesheets with oversight to keep part-time and full-time employees within budgeted hours.
- Collaborates with Branch Manager to perform interviews of prospective employees.
- Works with Branch Manager to facilitate team meetings to celebrate successes, discuss areas of improvement and provide updates on procedures, products, and bank initiatives.
- Assists tellers with:
- Approving over the limit transactions and transactions requiring Supervisor overrides.
- Locating cash discrepancies,
- Performing teller drawer audits as necessary,
- Managing complex client requests/transactions; and
- Handling difficult client questions and interactions.
- Identifies business development and referral opportunities for Branch Manager follow-up, through in-branch interactions.
- Operates a teller window as needed and assists new accounts with opening/closing accounts and making account changes, as needed.
- Maintains and protects confidentiality of client information.
- Maintains regular, on-time attendance.
- Remains current in assigned training and continuing education for designation retention (online, video, in-house emails, telephone seminars, etc.)
- Complies with all regulatory requirements including Bank Secrecy Act and all others specific to their position.
- Meets with clients and prospective borrowers, assisting them with consumer loan applications and processes, explaining the products and guidelines.
- Performs other various duties as assigned.

Requirements
SKILLS

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of three years banking experience and/or education, including cash handling.
- NMLS license preferred and or experience with consumer lending.
- Passion for providing a stellar service experience to all clients (external and internal) and ability to instill this passion in others.
- Ability to provide overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.
- Excellent interpersonal skills (tactfulness, cooperation, courteousness and client friendliness) are necessary to represent the bank in a positive manner.
- Excellent written communication skills with demonstrated ability to write communications clearly, concisely and effectively, with attention to detail for visually appealing output and accurately proofreading publications.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the demonstrated ability to effectively present information to customers and management.

- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work as a member of the team.
