Job Summary

Specialized police officers supervise the performance of police personnel under his/her command as assigned by the division commander, lieutenant, or sergeant, and/or have significant responsibilities beyond the scope of the police officer position requiring them to remain on-call 24-hours-a-day.

This position will interact on a regular basis with supervisor and co-workers, GT employees, students, and campus visitors.

This position typically will advise and counsel GT employees, students, and campus visitors.

This position will supervise Police Officers in Training assigned to the Field Training and Evaluation (FTEP) program.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Oversee, organize, and direct the activities of assigned law enforcement personnel in the Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP)

Job Duty 2 -
Assist in evaluating performance of assigned personnel

Job Duty 3 -
Participate in training and complete related records as required or directed

Job Duty 4 -
Review reports of subordinates for accuracy and completeness as directed

Job Duty 5 -
Provide advice and instruction on situations requiring expertise of an experienced officer as directed by supervision

Job Duty 6 -
Serve as Officer in Charge (OIC) at the discretion of supervision

Job Duty 7 -
Perform other related duties as required

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
High School Diploma/GED or Vocational School Diploma

Other Required Qualifications
Certifications or licenses required for this job:
*Georgia Peace Officer Standards Training Council- Field Training Officer Certification; or
*Canine Handler Certification; or
*Georgia Peace Officer Standards Training Council- Criminal Investigator Certification

Required Experience
One to two years job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Technical Diploma, Associate Degree, or two years college course work. Bachelor's Degree a plus.

Preferred Experience
One to three years as a police officer within a police department, military experience with Honorable Discharge (DD214) or experience in a related field

ABILITIES

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

SKILLS
This job requires excellent verbal and written communications skills; honesty, ability to take action quickly, use independent and sound judgment, and display initiative in applying work methods. Additionally, ability to prepare reports is required.

Salary range is dependent on candidates experiences and skills that ranges from $69,048 - $73,569.
