Every year, we serve more than 13,000 people experiencing or at risk of homelessness with affordable and supportive housing, person-centered health care, addiction recovery, and employment assistance. By providing health care, housing, and jobs, CCC is ending homelessness in Portland and helping people achieve their highest potential.

This Crew II position is an essential part of the expansion of Clean Start's City of Portland contract. This position is Responsible for driving an electric cleaning vehicle or bag truck as assigned. This position will be tasked with providing a quick response to assigned districts, including basic sidewalk cleaning, graffiti removal, bag collection, and providing support to fellow team members. This position may also share duties with a pressure washer truck as well.

Schedule: Sunday - Thursday, 6:30 am - 3:00 PM

Compensation: $21.65/hour

A successful applicant for the Clean Start Crew II EV Driver - Special Projects position should demonstrate reliability and a strong sense of personal duty, taking pride in their work. They must possess a solid understanding of policies and processes, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and in accordance with established guidelines. This role requires individuals who are committed to maintaining a clean environment and are motivated to contribute positively to the community.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Must have at least six months experience with outdoor cleaning or janitorial work.
  • Must have Six months experience with biohazard identification and proper disposal, preferably with Clean Start.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with other staff, Portland Police officers, general public and people in the camps who are experiencing homelessness.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, TB test, and background check.
  • Ability to adhere to Central City Concern's drug-free workplace which encourages a safe, healthy and productive work environment and strictly complies with the Drug-Free Work Place Act of 1988. An employee shall not, in the workplace, unlawfully manufacture, distribute, dispense, possess or use a controlled substance or alcohol.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity and physical ability to perform duties.
  • Must possess a current driver's license, pass a DMV background check and be designated an "acceptable" driver as outlined in Central City Concern's Fleet Safety Policy. Must pass an initial driver's training within 60 days of being an approved driver and continued recertification training.
  • Must generally have the ability to walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, pull and lift heavy objects, and climb stairs with reasonable or no accommodation.
  • Must adhere to agency's non-discrimination policies.
  • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers and clients with diverse ethnic backgrounds, religious views, cultural backgrounds, lifestyles, and sexual orientations, and treat each individual with respect and dignity.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Provide mobile trash pick-up to locations where people are experiencing homelessness in public places (camps).
  • Coordinate with Portland Police Bureau Neighborhood Response Team (NRT) officers and partnering street outreach workers through the Intensive Street Engagement Initiative to develop standard pick-up patrol routes.
  • Regularly communicate with abandoned autos, NRT officers and other community partners.
  • Provide portable bathroom cleaning to 120 portable toilets in the City of Portland.
  • Spray down inside of portable restroom with cleaner and pressure washer.
  • Removal of all trash and debris from area around portable toilets.
  • Perform detailed cleaning including bio-hazards, needle removal and other special projects.
  • Track all clean-up/removal activities on a daily basis. Document all cleanups via photographs.
  • Responsible for filling out assessments for each location.
  • Responsible for understanding the Anderson agreement and following it in regards to personal property.
  • Perform detailed cleaning including bio-hazards, needle removal and other special projects.
  • Operate an agency telephone. Must be able to answer and respond to all calls from partners and supervisors quickly and in a respectful manner.
  • Dispose of all material cleaned/picked up at the Clean Start garage.
  • Provide pressure washing to sidewalks.
  • 1Report any and all unusual incidents that involve individuals that employees come in contact with to supervisor.
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings.
  • Adhere to all CCC policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Adhere to all state and federal privacy and security regulations applicable to the program, and to CCC policies and agreements regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
