Recreational Therapist (Certified) - Part-Time Position

The Recreational Therapist is responsible for overseeing the therapeutic activities program. The Recreational Therapist will ensure the program is appropriate to the needs and interest of patients and is directed toward restoring and maintaining optimal levels of physical and psychosocial functioning. Conducts assessment and establishes recreational therapy treatment goals and objectives to meet the individual needs of patients.The Recreational Therapist will actively participate in treatment planning and implementing activity services for our patients, which involves defining and implementing treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and providing continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients under the direction of the Director of Clinical Services.

Oak Plains Academy is a comprehensive and highly structured 98-bed residential treatment program offering psychiatric residential treatment services to children and adolescents, struggling with emotional and behavioral issues. Residents receive an individualized treatment plan, geared to meet their personal needs. A professional team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, therapists, nurses, and teachers serve children and adolescents with the common goal of treating and healing trauma and building resiliency in the residents we serve. Located on 20 acres of rolling hills in a rural setting, about 45 minutes from Nashville, Tennessee, Oak Plains Academy campus features a full-size gymnasium, dining hall, separate academic building, and four dormitories.

Qualifications

Education/Licenses

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Recreational Therapy / Leisure Studies; Masters degree preferred.

A Certified Recreational Therapy Specialist (CTRS), or certification eligible Recreation Therapist.

Certified as CTRS in the state of Tennessee or scheduled to take the test.
