Overview:

Serves as Lead for Behavioral Therapy Team. Provides oversight of programmatic needs for all inpatient behavioral health areas, coordinates program schedules and staffing needs. Participates in activities related to quality and safety for the department. Provides supervision of other staff and input into performance reviews. Provides direct clinical care, provides therapeutic interventions as indicated and documents patients response to treatment. Plans, organizes and conducts therapy sessions on an individual and group basis, and evaluates process of patients. The purpose of Behavioral Therapy is to facilitate positive changes in patients basic functional ability, achieve improved independent functioning, and to make the hospital experience positive and growth oriented. These changes are accomplished through therapy, education, and recreation.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelors degree required.

• Licensure or Certification: One of the following:

  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)

  • Registered Art Therapist (ATR)

  • Certified Music Therapist

  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

• Experience:

  • Experience working with patients with mental illness and chemical dependency.

    • Preferred Experience:
      • Experience working with patients across the lifespan (pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric).
      • Supervisory or lead experience (including scheduling, staffing, training) preferred.

• Other:

  • Individual must be knowledgeable of mental illness disorders and be able to provide appropriate therapeutic interventions that enable the patient's recovery.

  • Skills in providing educational and group therapy interventions, assessment of patients psychosocial functioning, and knowledge of appropriate community resources.
