Job Description

The University of Missouri-Kansas City invites applications and nominations for the Director of Undergraduate Admissions in The Office of Admissions. The successful candidate will serve as an integral member of UMKC's strategic enrollment management team and report directly to the Assistant Vice Provost for Enrollment Management.

Position Overview

The Director of Undergraduate Admissions administers the operational, financial, and personnel functions to accomplish the university's undergraduate enrollment goals and objectives, providing campus-wide leadership in recruitment of students while making data informed decisions. The Director will coordinate the domestic student recruitment and yield programs, including communications and marketing via the SLATE Customer Resource Management (CRM) system as well as other technical platforms to cultivate leads to move students through the application cycle to enroll. Additionally, this position will oversee the application and admissions processing for all undergraduate programs. Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategic Planning

  • Provide campus-wide leadership in undergraduate recruitment for UMKC's Volker and Hospital Hill campuses.
  • Develop and implement strategic undergraduate recruitment and yield plans aligned with university enrollment goals.
  • Use data analytics and reporting tools to monitor progress, inform decisions, and optimize recruitment strategies.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to provide enrollment reports and data to support university-wide yield and recruitment efforts.

Operations & Compliance

  • Direct and administer the operations, services, and resources of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
  • Ensure the admission process-from application submission to decision, is efficient and compliant with regulations.
  • Oversee application review and admission processing for all undergraduate programs.
  • Supervise operational, financial, and personnel functions within the admissions office.
  • Develop and monitor the department's operating budget.

Staff Management & Development

  • Hire, train, evaluate, and supervise professional and clerical staff.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in executing recruitment, communication, and marketing strategies.

Recruitment & Marketing

  • Direct and coordinate domestic recruitment programs and marketing efforts targeting high schools, community colleges, and community organizations in Missouri and out-of-state.
  • Organize and oversee on-campus and virtual recruitment events for prospective students, parents, counselors, and special interest groups.
  • Lead communication and marketing initiatives using the SLATE Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and other digital platforms.

Relationship Building & Outreach

  • Advise and assist deans, directors, faculty, students, and families on admission policies, procedures, and decisions.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with faculty, administrators, and community partners to support recruitment efforts.
  • Serve as a liaison to high schools, community colleges, and community organizations.
Minimum Qualifications

  • A master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 7 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience providing campus-wide leadership in undergraduate recruitment and yield planning, aligned with institutional enrollment goals.
  • Proficient in leveraging data analytics, reporting tools, enrollment metrics, and AI-embedded technologies to monitor progress, inform strategy, and optimize recruitment outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to direct admissions operations, ensure regulatory compliance, oversee application review processes, and manage budgets effectively.
  • Experience hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating teams, with success leading cross-functional groups to execute recruitment and marketing initiatives.
  • Skilled in designing and implementing recruitment programs, marketing campaigns, and events (on-campus, virtual, and off-site) to attract and enroll target student populations.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with senior leadership, faculty, community organizations, and schools to advance recruitment priorities.
