Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is looking to add a qualified full-time Respiratory Therapist in Hamilton, NJ. The Respiratory Therapist provides will assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • AS Degree in Applied Science
  • Graduate of AMA approved Respiratory Therapy Program

Preferred:

  • ACLS
  • Bachelors of Science

Certification and License Required:

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist by NBRC
  • Licensed by New Jersey State Board of Respiratory Care
  • BLS Certification Required, American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Day Shift, 40 hours/week (8:30AM - 5 PM)
  • Full-Time Schedule

Essential Functions:

  • Will perform diagnostic tests, administer therapies, educate patients, and collaborate with the physicians to develop and implement treatment plans
  • Perform and interpret various tests, such as pulmonary function tests and 6-minute walk tests to assess lung capacity and oxygen levels
  • Provide a range of respiratory therapies, including medication administration e.g.:
    • inhalers, nebulizers, methacholine, and oxygen therapy,
  • Set up, operate, and maintain respiratory equipment, ensuring proper functioning and patient safety
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant information
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with safety protocols
  • Set up and educate patients on home oxygen and sleep apnea treatment program
  • Consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care, reporting findings, and recommending treatment adjustments
  • Conduct follow-up assessments and equipment compliance checks for patients receiving respiratory care
