The Director of Strategy and Portfolio Management will be responsible for leading the development, execution, and governance of business strategies and the strategic project portfolio for the division. This position will oversee the full portfolio lifecycle-ensuring projects and programs are prioritized, monitored, and executed to support division and enterprise strategic objectives. The Director will partner closely with senior management, product management, and cross-functional teams to translate business strategy into actionable initiatives that drive growth, innovation, and operational excellence

This role reports to the Head of Strategy & Portfolio& Product Management for the Workforce Benefits Division and will play an integral role in translating the division's strategy to action. You embrace the ambiguity and high degree of complexity associated with standing up a new business and new organizational structure. You are willing and able to jump in where needed and you bring an innovative mindset to solving critical business problems.

This role is hybrid, on-site in Newport Beach, CA, or Omaha, NE.

How you will make an impact:

  • Develop, execute, and monitor integrated business strategies to achieve short-term and long-term organizational goals.

  • Lead the end-to-end portfolio management lifecycle-including project planning, initiation, resource allocation, execution, benefits realization, and value tracking.

  • Maintain awareness of market research and analysis to identify strategic opportunities and risks, and translate external trends into relevant internal actions.

  • Ensure strategic initiatives are aligned with overall business objectives by collaborating with cross-functional teams and senior leaders.

  • Establish and maintain effective portfolio governance practices to prioritize, monitor, and report on projects and programs for maximum business value.

  • Prepare and present strategic plans and recommendations to executive leadership.

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing, scalable project management team, leveraging internal and external resources as needed.

  • Drive ad-hoc strategic initiatives and continuously identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.

The experience you will bring:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic management, portfolio management, program leadership, or management consulting within financial services, insurance, or related industries.

  • Proven experience managing large, complex project portfolios and teams, including third-party and cross-functional resources.

  • Strong knowledge of portfolio and project management methodologies, techniques, and best practices, as well as strategy development and execution.

  • Ability to blend innovation and agile methodologies with traditional project management to optimize outcomes and collaboration.

  • Deep understanding of business and market dynamics, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including data synthesis and analysis.

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$180,180.00 - $220,220.00
