Become an Adult Protective Services (APS) Social Work Supervisor with the County of Sonoma.
Adult Protective Services Social Work Supervisors in the Adult and Aging Division of the Human Services Department typically oversee either an Intake or Investigations unit; this current vacancy is in the Intake unit. APS Social Work Supervisors in the Intake unit are responsible for reviewing reports of suspected older adult and dependent adult abuse, screening and assigning reports for investigations, providing consultation and direction to social workers, approving case actions, and reviewing cases submitted for closure. They are also responsible for supervising a team of Adult and Aging Social Workers. Additional responsibilities include:
• Managing, organizing, and leading a unit of social workers • Equitably and effectively supervising and assessing social worker performance, including providing feedback and coaching • Engaging with community partners and representing APS in meetings, including Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings • Reviewing reports of suspected elder and dependent adult abuse, assessing jurisdiction, determining whether an investigation meets criteria for assignment, and assigning cases to social workers under a fast-paced timeline • Participating in on-going program development and policy and procedure protocol to ensure compliance with best practices • Performing a variety of supervisory tasks, including evaluating and training staff, explaining staff needs to administration, and facilitating meetings with staff and community partners • Reviewing and determining approvals for referral and purchase of services for contracted vendors • Holding group and individual meetings to review work activities for appropriateness of services and referrals, and conformance with state and local program timelines, regulations, policies, and procedures • Meeting, consulting, and collaborating with other HSD supervisors and partner agencies to coordinate work • Providing back-up support to other APS supervisors and their units as needed • Participating in a weekly rotation as the after-hours supervisor on call for the APS Emergency Response 24-Hour Program
