Job Posting Title: Professional Development Coordinator---- Hiring Department: Graduate School---- Position Open To: All Applicants---- Weekly Scheduled Hours: 20---- FLSA Status: Exempt---- Earliest Start Date: Sep 22, 2025---- Position Duration: Expected to Continue---- Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS---- Job Details: PurposeThe part-time Professional Development Coordinator will provide individual and group career advising, teach workshops and coordinate content specifically for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars, grounded in a holistic in the Office of Career & Life Design in the Graduate School at UT Austin. This position will report to the Assistant Director for Professional Development and will focus on the unique needs of international graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. Subject matter for these events and workshops may include networking, community building and navigating the US job market and will incorporate Life Design principles and tools. ResponsibilitiesIndividual and Group Career & Professional Development Advising: Provide career advising and coaching specifically for advanced degree students and scholars, requiring specialized knowledge of the PhD hiring landscape across disciplines and industries. Types of advising can include meeting with students and scholars in person, through video conference, and by phone on topics ranging from application document preparation, career exploration and planning, interviewing, negotiation, decision making, storytelling and resilience strategies. Career Programming: Support design and implementation of workshops and events focused on the career & professional development needs of graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. Collaborate with the team to develop and lead monthly international scholar community-building events and tailor core content for international graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. Plan and facilitate biannual international job search summit event. Resource and Content Creation and Management: Create, manage and disseminate content and resources specifically focused on the professional development of international graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. Lead coordination of resource subscriptions that specifically address the unique needs of international graduate students and postdoctoral scholars, and curate and disseminate monthly global grad career listserv. Provide content, resources and opportunities for the weekly OCLD newsletter. Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in any field with a demonstrated interest in career and professional development theory and assessment. Three years of experience teaching and advising students. Knowledge of and interest in international graduate student and scholar experience and support needs. Ability to conduct outreach and work collaboratively with faculty and student support offices. Bias towards action and ability to navigate ambiguity. Preferred QualificationsPhD in any field with experience advising and teaching graduate students on career and professional development topics. Demonstrated teaching and curriculum development experience.
