Job Description

JOB OBJECTIVE: The Research Scientist Intern on the Bioassay Team will gain hands-on experience in assay development. They will apply Promega's luminescent technologies to assays that serve the antibody-drug conjugate field. The Intern will receive daily supervision and direction from experienced scientists, but will work toward independence in design and execution of laboratory experiments. The role emphasizes delivering high-quality, reproducible data and contributing to high-priority company projects in a collaborative environment. As part of this work, the intern will help evaluate and optimize AI-designed protein binders developed in collaboration with Promega's AI Protein Design team. This is a training position.

CORE DUTIES:

1. Apply textbook knowledge of scientific principles to achieve technical objectives.

2. Assist in designing, executing, and analyzing laboratory experiments.

3. Interact effectively with co-workers and team members.

4. Follow project plan with assistance.

5. Understand how work activity is tied to meeting a customer need.

6. Work at bench.

7. Document experimental procedures and results in a laboratory notebook.

8. Ensure data accuracy by following established workflows and protocols.

9. Demonstrates inclusion through their own words and actions and is accountable for a safe workspace. Acts with kindness, curiosity and respect for others.

10. Embracing and being open to incorporating Promega's 6 Emotional & Social Intelligence (ESI) core principles in daily work.

11. Understands and complies with ethical, legal and regulatory requirements applicable to our business.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be currently enrolled in a degree program in the life sciences (biology, chemistry, etc.).

2. Basic knowledge of cell biology, laboratory techniques, or related fields through coursework or laboratory work.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. One year of experience with mammalian cell culture or biochemical assays.

2. Strong laboratory background in cell biology and biochemistry.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Ability to work at lab bench or fume hood for extended period of time.

2. Ability to wear protection gear (gloves, lab coat, safety glasses, etc.).

3. Ability to operate a computer.
