Description

Acara Solutions is seeking an experienced Visualization Engineer to drive the development and integration of advanced imaging systems for next-generation medical devices. This hands-on role blends design, prototyping, and system integration with collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to deliver cutting-edge visualization solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead integration of CMOS image sensors with both custom and off-the-shelf imaging subsystems.
  • Design, prototype, and optimize fiber bundle and LED illumination assemblies for compact visualization systems.
  • Apply DFMA principles to millimeter-scale optical and electronic components and subassemblies.
  • Develop custom PCBs for imaging and illumination systems using PCB layout software.
  • Create CAD models for assembly fixtures, precision enclosures, and integration hardware.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, clinical, regulatory, and manufacturing teams for seamless system integration.
  • Partner with OEMs and suppliers to source, validate, and qualify imaging and illumination components.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including drawings, BOMs, assembly procedures, and design history files.
  • Support design verification testing and prototype performance characterization.
  • Participate in design reviews, FMEA risk assessments, and overall design control activities.

This role offers the opportunity to shape the visualization capabilities of innovative medical devices from concept to market.

Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical, Optical, Biomedical, Mechatronics, or a related engineering field-preferably with a focus on electronics, optics, or medical devices.
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years of engineering experience; experience in medical devices or other highly regulated industries (aerospace, automotive) is strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with CMOS image sensors or fiber optic imaging systems.
  • Experience integrating LEDs and optical systems in small-form-factor devices.
  • Ability to design electronics and optical subsystems at the millimeter scale, with a focus on manufacturability and assembly.
  • Proficiency in designing printed circuit boards using KiCAD, Eagle, Altium, or similar software.
  • Comfortable using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) to design housings, fixtures, and enclosures.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, organizational skills, and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and FDA QSR medical device design controls.
  • Experience with IEC 60601 or other medical device safety standards.
  • Familiarity with image signal processing and embedded system design.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced startup environment with evolving priorities
