Description
- Deploy, upgrade, and troubleshoot multi-vendor network equipment and solutions, including but not limited to Juniper, Cisco, Palo Alto, Dell, HPE, or VMWare.
- Plans, designs, and evaluates new and existing computer network systems and services including local area networks, wide area networks, intranets, and the Internet, providing analytical, technical, and administrative support.
- Configure, test, design, implement, and troubleshoot telecommunication networks.
- Develop/Execute test cases, test plans, lab diagrams/topology, test reports and implementation plans.
- Assist in developing configurations to meet DISA design requirements, following industry standard best practices, and ensuring STIG and all network security compliances.
- Investigate and recommend emerging insertion technologies (i.e. new features, capabilities, etc.)
- Collaborates with project stakeholders and technical staff to elicit, define, and document requirements.
- Influences team members, the customer, and vendors to define, analyze, and provide solutions for the customer's voice, data, and image communications requirements.
- Prepares complex workprints and schematics to define and illustrate entire network structures and solutions.
- Provide required documentation in support of Engineering Change Request (ECR), Design Change Request (DCR), and Configuration Control Board (CCB) processes.
Requirements
- BA/BS in a technical discipline with minimum of 3 years of network engineering experience configuring, testing, designing, implementing, or troubleshooting networks.
- Security + certification or equivalent 8570/8140 IAT II certification or ability to obtain a DoD 8570/8140 IAT obtain Level I Certification within 6 months of hire and Level II within a year.
- Testing experience supported by a network and systems engineering background.
- Strong working knowledge of Juniper MX platforms
- Knowledge of and experience with networking technologies, concepts, routing and switching protocols, including but not limited to, TCP/IP, routing, switching, IPAM, DNS, DDNS, DHCP, F5 GTM / LTM, SSH, VPN products (IPSec, SSL VPN), Internet Proxy, IPS, IDS, IP routing protocols including RIP, BGP, MP-BGP, OSPF, IP Multicast, LDP, STP, MPLS/RSVP, IS-IS, IPv6, and QoS; Advanced Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) services (L3VPN, L2VPN, VPLS & CSC), Ethernet traffic analysis tool, TAPs, and traffic brokers, LAN/WAN, SONET, ICMP and SNMP management protocols.
- Familiarity with QoS/CoS principles
- Familiarization with Cisco XR, willingness to learn and work on Cisco devices (this is required for interop testing)
- Familiarity working with RMF (eMASS) process and with STIGing or security hardening of systems.
- Experience with unclassified and classified networks.
- Experience writing technical documentation.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with management and staff at all levels.
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft office suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Able to work with strict deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with no or little assistance to complete equipment testing.
- Ability to work in a group to achieve the common goal to resolve complex network issues.
Preferred/Desired Experience/Qualifications:
- DoD Experience a plus on DoD network or systems
- Juniper Certified Network Specialist (JNCIS) Service Provider / Enterprise track
- Juniper Certified Network Professional (JNCIP) in either Service Provider or Enterprise fields (both of these have strong Class of Service - Juniper's term for QoS)
- Familiarity with IXIA and/or Spirent test generators
- Familiarity with NESSUS, ACAS, or security analysis tools
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and methodology
Special Requirements/Security Clearance:
- DoD Active Secret Clearance Required (or eligible for Interim Secret Clearance)
- DoD Approved 8570/8140 Level II Certification, i.e., Network+ CE, Security+ CE, CISSP or similar.
