Job Summary: The Mountain Host Assistant Manager supports the daily leadership, coordination, and operations of the Guest Services team with a focus on the Mountain Host program. This role assists in training, deploying, and supervising Hosts as they serve as visible, informed, and service-focused ambassadors across the resort. The Assistant Manager works closely with the Senior Manager of Guest Experience and cross-departmental partners to ensure Hosts are strategically positioned to enhance guest flow, provide timely information, and contribute to a positive and safe on-mountain experience. They will also provide support when needed with the Ticketing and Locker Room Teams.

Hourly:

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Base hourly pay range: $20.50 - $28.69 per hour

Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks include the following: other duties may be assigned:
  • Assist the Senior Manager of Guest Experience in leading day-to-day team operations with a focus on guest service, safety, and on-mountain visibility.
  • Supervise Mountain Hosts during shifts, provide in-the-moment coaching, and ensure deployment aligns with guest flow and operational needs.
  • Monitor and respond to real-time guest and departmental needs by collaborating with Dispatch, Patrol, Lifts, Events, Tickets, and other departments.
  • Help train new and returning Hosts in resort knowledge, guest engagement, and conflict de-escalation techniques.
  • Support scheduling, timecard approval, communication, and basic administrative tasks.
  • Use radios, software, and mobile tools to communicate effectively and ensure timely responses to on-mountain situations.
  • Model positive guest interactions and serve as an on-the-ground leader, especially during peak days, events, or challenging conditions.
  • Uphold safety protocols and ensure Hosts are aware of current policies, weather conditions, and resort messaging.
  • Assist with the needs of the ticketing and locker rooms team.


Competencies and Job Requirements:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable giving direction and constructive feedback.
  • High level of guest empathy and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Good organizational and time management skills; detail-oriented and dependable.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing mountain conditions and guest flow.
  • Intermediate or higher ski or snowboard ability required for effective movement around resort terrain.
  • Familiarity with RTP, IKON Tools, Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, and radio communication; experience with resort operations platforms a plus.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in a variety of winter weather conditions for extended periods.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, see, and hear. You must be capable of walking or standing 85% or more of a normal 9-hour work shift. Must be capable of occasionally carrying, lifting, pushing or pulling up to 45lbs. Must be capable of occasionally squatting, bending, kneeling, reaching, and balancing, able to climb ladders and shovel snow. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:

Indoor/Outdoor: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently be exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee will frequently be exposed to extreme cold, wetness and/or humidity, and occasionally blizzards and extreme storm conditions.

Hazardous Materials/Noise: The noise level in the workplace is usually moderate.

Equipment Used in Job: Snow shovels, snow blowers (with training)

Education and Experience:

Required:

Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in guest service, resort operations, or hospitality.

Preferred:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in hospitality, recreation, or a related field.
