Summary:
The Manager of Construction and Renovation will provide management oversight of all UNC Lenoir Health Care and UNCPN construction and renovation projects. They will lead users, engineering teams, and contractors throughout all projects. They will be responsible to initiate projects and meet with clients to determine the client's scope, budget, timeline, and expectations. The Manager of Construction and Renovation will determine with the Director of Engineering whether project should be outsourced or stay within the facility. The Manager of Construction and Renovation will deliver projects within the constrain of any and all applicable Lenoir UNC Health Care policies, procedures, standards, DHSR requirements, city/state codes, NFPA 101 codes, and FGI guidelines. Review and approve contractor applications for payment invoices and forwards proper disposition in a timely manner.

Patients and families, employees, medical staff, and general public are served by providing a pleasant and comfortable physical environment.

Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree required. Formal Degree, and Training in Engineering or Construction Management preferred.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
Minimum 5 years' experience in construction engineering or construction project management.
Specific experience in health care construction and renovation project management preferred.
Working knowledge and experience with NFPA 101 (LSC), AIA minimum guidelines for healthcare construction, and the International Building Codes.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to communicate effectively with diverse groups and individuals.
Must be able to maintain effective working relationships and communication levels with hospital staff, department directors, executives, physicians, contractors, architects, and the general public.
Must be able to act independently in order to recognize, interpret, and correct deficiencies, and initiate improvements.
Ability to plan, manage and coordinate multiple construction and renovation projects, including planning and implementation.
Plans, coordinates, evaluates, manages, and directs construction and renovation projects.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to work in high places (15 feet or above).
Occasionally works in areas that are not well lighted.
Occasionally may be required to work under the building.
Occasionally works in areas that are colder than 35 degrees and areas hotter than 90 degrees.
Frequently walks long distances during shift.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT
Frequently climbs and balances on ladders and scaffolding.
Frequently stoops, kneels, crouches and crawls.
Frequently lifts and carries up to 50 pounds various distances.
Frequently walks and/or stands during the performances of the duties of this position.
