Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Systems Engineer to support naval aviation and weapons integration programs at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. This role provides systems engineering support across the full acquisition lifecycle of advanced Aircraft, Weapons, and Integrated Systems - including requirements development, technical analysis, system integration, airworthiness, test and evaluation, and risk assessment.

Responsibilities

The Senior Systems Engineer is expected to bring both technical expertise and leadership to the role, serving as a trusted contributor and advisor within cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with the initiative to work independently, yet highly collaborative in guiding projects to successful outcomes. This individual demonstrates the ability to analyze complex engineering challenges, develop innovative solutions, and provide technical leadership across system integration, sustainment, safety, and acquisition activities. Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform complex engineering tasks independently and/or lead technical teams supporting aircraft and weapons integration programs.
  • Develop requirements, integration plans, and technical documentation
  • Conduct engineering analyses, test and evaluation for systems, subsystems, and components.
  • Apply systems engineering principles, methods, and tools to guide the development of modern complex systems.
  • Review and prepare engineering analyses, reports, specifications, TEMPs, contractor design data, and change proposals.
  • Coordinate efforts with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful system integration.
  • Identify program requirements, track performance metrics, and manage the systems engineering process.
  • Serve as a technical representative at design reviews, program meetings, and test events; prepare technical reports, trip reports, and correspondence.

  • Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision, navigate at the expert level within systems engineering activities and is knowledgeable in model-based systems engineering
  • Proactive individual who can quickly come up to speed on new technologies and work collaboratively with system domain SMEs, peers, managers, and customers
  • Inquisitive and motivated engineer with strong background in systems engineering principles including system architecture, requirements analysis, interface definition, risk management, and technical documentation.

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Master's Degree in technical or scientific field with 10-13 years of recent and relevant systems engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in technical or scientific field with at least 12-15 years of recent and relevant systems engineering experience OR PhD in technical or scientific field with at least 10 years of recent and relevant systems engineering experience
  • At least 3 years of DoD systems experience
  • Demonstrated experience in an area of engineering expertise
  • Must possess and be able to maintain a Secret Clearance

Desired Skills

  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • Dassault Systems Cameo Systems Modeler and/or Cameo Enterprise Architect
    • SysML
    • UAF
    • OOSEM
  • Airworthiness experience, including knowledge of NAVAIR airworthiness requirements, safety of flight, and flight clearance processes, is highly desired.
  • Experience in DoD acquisition lifecycle, including requirements development, systems integration, verification and validation, and sustainment.
  • Knowledge of strike weapons, aircraft integration, and test and evaluation processes

Equal Pay Act

This is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
