Position Summary The Director of Label Compliance & Regulatory Services is a key leadership role responsible for driving the strategic direction, execution, and profitable growth of Merieux NutriSciences' portfolio of label compliance, nutrition regulatory consulting, and innovation-led labeling services across North America. This role leads the vision, development, and operational excellence of services spanning food, dietary supplements, pet food, and emerging product categories, ensuring both regulatory rigor and client-centric innovation. The Director will lead a high-performing team and actively contribute to the commercial strategy, margin improvement, and business development roadmap in close collaboration with marketing, business development managers (BDMs), and technical teams.
YOUR PROFILE
Qualifications Required
Proven track record of leading teams, driving profitable growth, and launching scalable service innovations. Strong understanding of the US, Canadian, and international labeling regulations (FDA, USDA, CFIA, DSHEA, FSMA, etc.) Experience working with digital labeling platforms, GenAI tools, or regulatory tech is a strong asset. Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and commercial acumen. Advanced knowledge of business-to-business product management, typically obtained from an advanced degree or extensive experience. Product management process knowledge is needed to effectively develop and implement new services. Pricing analysis knowledge is needed to ensure the services being developed are cost effective. Prior related experience in these areas: food chemistry testing services, laboratory quality systems, Standard Operating Procedures, accreditation requirements, pertinent regulations and other industry specific drivers. Strong understanding of inputs to profit and loss accounting is required to ensure products are beneficial to the company. B-to-B marketing communications and competitive analysis knowledge is beneficial in determining market needs and direction. [Management Experience] Product Managers as applicable, Associate Product Managers as applicable, Team Leads, Database Analysts, Regulatory Specialists, Regulatory Coordinator and Regulatory Contractors, as well as overall leadership of the corporate label review team.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Growth
Define and implement a multi-year growth strategy for Label Compliance and Regulatory Services aligned with global/regional objectives Identify market opportunities and unmet client needs to expand service offerings and accelerate revenue growth and margin expansion Serve as a thought leader on labeling and regulatory intelligence, contributing to market positioning and strategic partnerships Drive the adoption and commercialization of digital innovations, such as GenAI tools and labeling automation platforms
Operational Excellence & Innovation
Oversee all phases of new service development, from concept through launch and post-launch optimization Ensure consistent, high-quality delivery across a diverse service catalog including regulatory reviews, claim substantiation, bilingual labeling, NHP and DS requirements, etc. Embed operational KPIs to track productivity, turnaround time, and quality across the portfolio Lead continuous improvement and harmonization of labeling SOPs across business units and geographies
Team & Organizational Leadership
Inspire, develop, and coach a cross-functional team of regulatory experts, consultants, and technical reviewers Build succession planning and technical depth across service lines Champion collaboration across commercial, quality, and digital innovation teams to drive alignment and execution
External Engagement
Act as a subject matter expert and brand ambassador in client-facing discussions, conferences, and webinars Collaborate with key clients on complex regulatory challenges, value-add insights, and strategic initiatives Monitor global regulatory trends and translate them into actionable service development opportunities

Physical Demands and Work Environment
The incumbent works in an environment with proper lighting and temperature controls. Occasionally travel is necessary, usually less than four nights each month, to attend technical conferences and trade shows or to accompany sales personnel to meet with clients.
Compensation Range: $170,000 - $185,000 annual salary Potential bonus: Up to 15% based on performance.
