Job Summary:

The Research Affairs Project Manager serves as a strategic partner to the Dean and the Office of the Dean, leading the planning, coordination, and execution of high-priority initiatives that advance the School of Medicine's mission and strategic goals. This role applies advanced project management expertise to translate strategic vision into actionable plans, align resources, and ensure measurable results. The Project Manager will lead the strategic planning and execution of administrative centralization efforts within the Clinical Trials Office and affiliated service centers. This role will support the launch and expansion of a centralized infrastructure for cell and gene therapy trials, ensuring alignment with institutional goals, regulatory standards, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Project Leadership (25%)

    • Lead end-to-end project management for initiatives that support the School's strategic priorities, including academic, research, clinical, and institutional goals.

    • Collaborate with leadership to define project objectives, success metrics, and key deliverables that align with the Dean's vision and institutional strategy.

    • Manage project timelines, budgets, milestones, and deliverables with a focus on long-term value and sustainability.

    • Anticipate challenges, identify opportunities, and develop strategies to ensure successful outcomes.

  • Business Strategy Alignment (25%)

    • Ensure all initiatives are closely tied to the School's strategic plan and operational goals.

    • Provide analysis, recommendations, and decision-support materials that inform strategic planning and resource allocation.

    • Monitor progress against strategic priorities and prepare high-level reports, dashboards, and updates for leadership.

  • Cross-Functional Engagement (25%)

    • Serve as a central coordination point for projects involving multiple departments, centers, and external partners.

    • Facilitate collaboration across diverse stakeholder groups, ensuring alignment and effective communication.

    • Lead strategic workgroups and steering committees, maintaining momentum and accountability.

  • Change Management & Implementation (25%)

    • Integrate change management principles into project plans to ensure stakeholder adoption and long-term success.

    • Support Dean's Office Leadership in communicating project goals, progress, and outcomes to internal and external audiences.

Work Location:

Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 4 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, strategic management, project management, or related field.

  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in strategic project management, business planning, or organizational change initiatives.

Substitution(s):

  • A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

  • An advanced degree (Master's or Doctorate) may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis if the degree is in a field of study directly related to the work assignment.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in business administration, public administration, health administration, or related field.

  • Project management experience in higher education, healthcare, or academic medicine.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or comparable certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

  • Outstanding customer service skills.

  • Proven ability to lead complex, multi-stakeholder projects with strategic impact.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.

  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $68,462 to $87,084.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
