Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned) Manages all functions of the contract administration function including a group of Contracts Analysts. Works with staff to negotiate structure and administer contractual documents that establish business relationships with vendors, customers and/or partners. Coordinates the fulfillment of Calpine's contract requirements through partnering with related departments such as legal, risk and client groups, performing quality checks, handling escalated and complex issues and balancing the workload. Regularly leads more complex negotiations. Responsible for formulation and implementation of department policies, procedures and guidelines. Ensures that all SOX controls are maintained and followed. Job Responsibilities
- Support electricity and natural gas trading and commercial transactions across commodities exchanges, such as ICE and NYMEX, and across RTO and ISO markets, including ERCOT, CAISO, PJM, and ISO-NE.
- Support contract management across all aspects of the trading and commercial origination organization for a wide range of commercial agreements, including power purchase agreements, EEIs, NAESBs, ISDAs, gas transport agreements, emissions trading agreements, and other commercial agreements.
- Will be preparing, making recommendations and providing summaries prior to contract execution and ensures the delivery of contract documents in accordance with customer deadlines.
- Manages internal and external communications to ensure all parties are informed of process, will keep detailed records.
- Detailed review of all contracts to maintain compliance with all regulatory agency standards and will perform periodic audits.
- Accomplishes work through others. Manages single function or portion of a department with an operational focus.
- Decisions typically related to resources, project approach, and tactical operations.
- Results have significant impact on costs and the achievement of function objectives or project-based goals.
- Ability to make decisions for large projects, a closely related set of projects, and initiatives involving one's own and possibly related functional areas.
- Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines tactical approach, resources, schedules and goals.
- Works within general guidelines; applies advanced technical knowledge to solve moderately complex problems for a function.
- Responsible for performance reviews, promotional decisions, and pay actions for support and professional levels for team.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
- Previous work leadership or senior level contributor experience.
- Typically requires minimum of 10+ years in area of specialization or contract management.
- Preferred candidates have a strong understanding of natural gas or power trading activities or commercial contracts.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment, leveraging different skill sets and serving as back-up and relying on others for back-up on daily work product
- Experience managing workflow of trading and retail contract negotiations
- Ability to draft structured (long-form) natural gas and power confirmations, evidenced by experience with non-standard contracts
