Job Summary

The Building Technician I is an entry-level role responsible for performing general building maintenance and basic repairs in a variety of facilities. This role supports the operation, appearance, and safety of building systems by assisting more experienced technicians and ensuring work is completed efficiently and in compliance with company standards.

Essential Duties

  • Performs routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and basic repairs of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and lighting.

  • Assists with work orders such as filter changes, lamp replacements, minor plumbing repairs, and general facility upkeep.

  • Supports senior technicians with troubleshooting and corrective maintenance tasks.

  • Monitors building conditions and promptly reports equipment malfunctions or unsafe conditions.

  • Maintains tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.

  • Provides customer service to building occupants and responds to requests in a timely manner.

  • Completes documentation of work performed in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

  • Follows all safety guidelines, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards.


Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical or trade school preferred.

  • 0-2 years of general building maintenance or mechanical systems experience.

  • Basic knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry).

  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, manuals, and safety instructions.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks as needed.

  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between job sites as required.
