Position Purpose |
To plan, manage, and execute complex multiple-component human subject and animal research projects for a multi-disciplinary laboratory with a global reach. Research topics in the laboratory include: a) using the brain's auditory system as a marker of overall brain function in patients with viral infections (
HIV,
COVID) or diseases that affect the brain, b) understanding and managing the adaptation to long-duration spaceflight, and c) studying new and established indications for hyperbaric oxygen treatment. Coordinator would: Operate as general laboratory manager, supervise junior lab staff and students, and ensure the smooth operation of the laboratory's projects both in the U.S. and abroad. Serve as an integral member of the research team to develop project objectives, execute project plans, communicate project status to leadership, and work effectively toward problem resolution. Ideally, the manager would be able to build and maintain coding processes for managing datasets. The lab primarily uses
MATLAB to organize and analyze data. This position is largely based out of a Dartmouth College Laboratory located in Lebanon, NH, but requires travel to foreign sites and domestic conferences.
The Space Medicine Innovations Lab's current areas of research are:
- Assessing brain function using the brain's auditory system in people with various conditions (HIV, Zika, COVID, Parkinson's, and Alzheimer's disease)
- Developing and implementing complex audiological tests both in the US and the developing world
- Testing and developing self-directed autonomous interactive media based behavioral health tools and virtual reality for use in isolated and confined environments
- Use of hyperbaric oxygen for research and clinical applications through a registry and other projects
- Developing and testing small, handheld devices for measuring urinary calcium for use on space missions
- Other technology/science projects for NASA/Department of Defense
Coordinator will be performing and managing studies, collecting data, analyzing results, and communicating with international partners. The successful candidate will be self-directed and have the ability to learn new skills, troubleshoot problems, work with a wide range of people, and manage multiple projects. |
